The Carlisle Thundering Herd football team, lost Friday's home conference game against State College by a score of 35-0. The team seemed out of sync and didn't play well at all. Key running backs were hurt and didn't play, so that hindered the running game a lot. The "next man up" didn't show up to play in some key positions. Missed blocks by the OL didn't help either. The team needs some JUICE! If you've got JUICE, you're USEFUL. If you don't have JUICE, you're USELESS.

The Heretic and Lieutenant Haggard clashed. The Heretic tried to disarm Haggard, but with no power to the suit he had no enhanced strength. The Heretic could have accessed an emergency reserve of strength, but that would mean fully synchronizing with the suit. The man inside, Arthur, still held to the idea that a better person could use the suit in the future. He continued to try fighting without the emergency reserve. Haggard, on the other hand, was more than motivated to kill this heretic. The slender spike of metal debris was buried deep between the heretic's ribs. The Heretic fell backward with his arms held wide. He could feel the breath of life leaving his body.
This image is from a series I took of a set of African figurines that my mother owns called Ebony Visions. The idea first came to me when I took a picture of one called Rose Beauty for a photography class. My peers were very excited and had nothing but good things to say and one word that kept coming up was "uncanny". So with this series I wanted to capture these figurines as if they were real people.

If commitment and passion for local foods were a recipe, Nutrition Director Chad Elliott and the Decorah Community School District would have all the right ingredients.
Elliott and his staff are especially excited about their culinary plans for district diners to celebrate Iowa Local Food Day. But then every day in this school district is local food day and that is what makes them extraordinary.
And it doesn’t get any more local than out the back door 10 feet from the district’s central kitchen. Decorah High School’s gardens produce nearly enough kale for the district for the entire year thanks to the dedication of staff who lead student garden crews and the implementation of a greenhouse on a track that rolls over the raised kale beds extending the growing season.
Students of all ages are involved in a variety of steps in growing and preparing local food for the district. The garden produced 100 pounds of garlic that students helped peel, process, and put in four-ounce containers to freeze for use in recipes throughout the year. The same was done with fresh basil.
For Local Food Day 2022, Decorah is featuring local meat donated by a nearby beef operation, burgers from a local food hub, local wheat for breakfast pizza, local roasted potatoes, local pears and local caramel apples.
Elliott said a key ingredient for success with local foods is to start on a small scale. He first established a relationship with a local orchard and then tried to add a new local food to the menus each year.
“It’s a no brainer for us every day,” Elliott said. “The price is right and we adjust the workload and try to balance it. We have a plan for every day depending on what preparation is required for a particular menu. It is just one more way to do good for our community. We want to support our local farmers. We like doing local food day because it is a chance for us to announce and publicize our local food commitment.”
In common with many european cities I have visited .. engaged and married lovers publicly declare their commitment by attaching such padlocks to well known and visited structures .. this padlock was attached to a quaint bridge in the park area of old town Riga

Honor, Courage, Commitment: Marine Corps Art Traveling Exhibit
HONOR, COURAGE, COMMITMENT:
MARINE CORPS ART, 1975 - 2018
A Traveling Exhibit from
THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORPS
Sponsored by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation
The art collection of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, located at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, comprises over 9,000 works. They tell the visual story of the United States Marine Corps as seen through the eyes of the artists. It has, as its foundation, works created by Marines who documented their own experiences in times of war and peace. Other artists recreated scenes that captured the early history of the Corps, established in 1775.
During World War II, Marines with artistic talent were identified to serve as combat artists. In 1966, General Wallace Greene, Commandant of the Marine Corps, directed Colonel Raymond Henri, USMCR, to establish a combat art program and select Marines and civilians to go to Vietnam to record their experiences. It was from this body of works that the Museum's collection was originally established. The Combat Art Program continues to rely on talented Marines and civilian artists who use their abilities to document the ongoing missions of the Marine Corps as it trains to maintain a state of readiness, deploys to assist in humanitarian relief efforts, and fights its country's battles. Combat artists are simply directed to draw and sketch what they witness and experience. They go to war and do art.
