France. Alpes. Département de la Savoie (73). Massif de la Vanoise. Photo prise lors d'une randonnée en boucle effectuée en solo, en août 2023, au départ de la Station de Belle Plagne, en passant par le Col de la Grande Forcle, le Lac des Blanchets, la Roche de Mio, la Combe et le Tunnel des Inversens.

Cette photo a été prise de la piste qui passe près du Lac des Blanchets.

De cet endroit, la Crête des Bourtes est particulièrement photogénique et ce d'autant plus si la surface du lac permet d'y voir son reflet. Pour cette photo, j'ai été assez chanceux avec le reflet car la plus grosse partie du lac avait sa surface bien ridée par le vent mais heureusement il y avait ce petit bout du lac donc la surface était quasiment lisse et qui permettait de voir la partie la plus importante du reflet de la crête. 🙏😊

Par contre, en voyant cette photo, on ne se rend pas compte de l'envers du décor, mais ce fut une de mes randos les plus cauchemardesques en termes d'environnement. En allant à la Station de Belle Plagne pour faire cette rando, je savais que j'aurais à marcher sur de nombreuses pistes et à parcourir un domaine skiable, avec des remontées mécaniques et autres aménagements qui défigurent un peu le paysage. Mais les photos que j'avais vues m'avaient convaincu d'y aller quand même. Ce que je ne savais pas en revanche, c'est que la Station était en travaux pour construire une télécabine permettant de repousser le haut de la station de 2700m à 3000m. Et pendant les deux premiers tiers de la rando, j'ai eu droit à un va-et-vient incessant de camions sur les pistes, soulevant des nuages de poussières sur leur passage. C'était dérangeant pour le bruit, pour la vue et pour la poussière respirée. Le dernier tiers de la boucle n'était heureusement pas emprunté par les camions mais c'est malheureusement à ce moment que les nuages sont venus voiler le ciel presqu'entièrement en masquant le soleil. 😂

Pour autant, rien que pour avoir pu prendre en photo cette belle crête et ce beau lac le matin, je ne regrette pas d'avoir fait cette rando. 😊

Et puis, j'ai essayé de tourner la situation en positif en m'amusant à prendre en photo certains camions escortés de leurs nuages de poussières, sur fond de décor montagneux. Et certains de ces clichés rendent plutôt bien. Sur certains d'entre eux, les nuages de poussière ressemblent à s'y méprendre à des nappes de brouillard. C'est pas bon à respirer mais ça peut être joli. 😊

Hello my friends! I'm back, but with limited internet connection. I will make sure to catch up with everyone who leaves a comment soon as I am back online full time (probably this week!)

:about the photo:

I got inspired to get back out there and captured this morning shot one day after my previous upload :-)

This is a bit of rocky outcropping (extending from a larger island) which I've climbed on many times for other shots :-)

That small tree you see reflecting in the water saved me one morning from sliding down that slippery slope... so I love that little tree! ;-)

If anyone's still reading... that is a dark fog bank covering the area below the sun!

It continued moving over the area and covered more of the landscape which I had intended to shoot, but it made for an interesting & beautiful photo this day (in my opinion)

There was a slight fog in the foreground as well, which mixed with a bit of steam rising off the freezing waters and gave the entire scene an eerie coloring that morn.

Speaking of freezing, the temperature was -12°C (minus twelve) between 8 & 9 that morning, and I captured this shot a bit after 9. I stayed out a while and saw some amazing views that day! No regrets :-)

* my Sony camera was damaged in a drop recently, the same day I took my 1st Upright Landscape photo (2 photos back in my photostream).

It is still damaged but I can use it to shoot 4:3 shots... but I can't access 16:9, 1:1 or other ratios. I also can't access the Flash settings or other fine controls. But at least it still zooms! *

Thanks guys for sticking around, it's great to be able to share this one with you today :-)

(Once I have full internet service again, I'll catch up with all who have commented too!)

I am not among those who walk the most in the mountains, my wife do a lot more mountains during summer than me.

But when I am in the mountains, when the weather is like this, and the views as amazing as this, then I feel a deep joy in my heart. A joy that is hard to explain, but it is partly a love for this country I am proud to call mine.

We are still in the mountains behind the Hoven skylift (look at my previous posting if you haven't alreaddy done so). The skylift might well be a crowded tourist trap on a day like this, but walk up the hills behind and leave the main paths and you get the genuin feeling of being in the mountain, there are only a few people there with you.

A video, and band, I found by chance is "I'll follow you" by the rock band Shinedown. I don't know much about them, but really liked this song. And many more they have, among them a good cover of "Simple Man"

But, back to "I'll follow you". It is something as little masculine as a pure love song, and the video have some really nice scenes from what must be Iceland. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IF5TfnmV0k
