From watching Buzzards above the moors near Harden Moss to following a heron on the canal with a few comical goats thrown in I didn't have a bad weekend really. The Buzzards seemed to appear out of nowhere as usual, moving fast and flying high they took a bit of tracking. The heron on the other hand took an hour to walk from the other side of the reservoir to a point close to me. it stopped at an awkward angle for me to photograph it without me moving and being seen. It then did a short flight to the canal, I moved and sat on a parapet wall above a deep drop in to a canal lock. The heron skipped over the canal and came so close that I had to lean back as far as I could without actually moving and being seen just to get the bird in the frame. At times I could only get partial shots. It them flew past me, almost brushing me and landed nearby on the towpath. Fortunately on this Saturday evening it was quiet and as it walked along the towpath I shadowed it at a distance, it flew in to the canal and was eventually frightened off by dogs. My arms were killing me I'd been holding the lens and camera in front of me non stop for an hour, fighting the cramp in my left arm. The things we do.
The goats on the wall top were a bit of a distraction as I followed three Buzzards messing around in a field near a farm in the afternoon and I snatched a few shots, the one behind was headbutting the others from behind to make them keep moving, very comical.
"Moon Shot one" is created by adding together four separate light paintings, one of the rocket, one of the moon, the night sky back ground (which is a million and one tiny scribbles of light all added together to representing the night sky) and the bottom image of a brigade heading over to an industrial park.
Thats the image, this is the creation.
Space has been on my mind a lot lately, its all started two years ago with the anniversary of the moon landing then last year with the unexpected Space being the theme for my university graduation project and its looking highly likely its going to be playing a big part of the MA course too. Pulse the space shuttle retires in 5 days time.
I really wanted to create something that played on the imagination, that took you back or reminded you of the little rockets you used to draw in school when you were 5 (which everyone used too draw, which is the real awesome thing about Space, its ability to bring everyone together for the purpose of traveling into it. I do honestly believe that the only way too get everyone working together over the entire planet is with the conquest of space, it has that fantastic way of getting everyone deguardless of your country to work together but thats something for another time). Okay so I wanted to create something to represent the moon landings (which I can only dream of witnessing, if I had a one trip time machine that would be my destination), also something that was child like, comical and something that maybe fired the imagination up again like it had once done.
Some how this was created, what do you think ?

Comical little birds and quite tame. They were near two people who were on a swing but seemed unconcerned. Very busy with nesting and endlessly flting over head and often very noisy.

it's often quite comical being a photographer. people are always confused as to what exactly you're photographing - and why. for instance, these doors. i'm walking along the street with kate - and suddenly i see these doors. brilliant! perfect subject. so i stop. and there were probably four or five passersby confused by my choice.
I made this photo of a mural on the side of a building across the street as I exited the parking lot of a home improvement store not too far from my San Francisco home. In fact, this mural was staring me in the face as I drove out. I had seen it several times before but stopped at the curb to snap this photo using my Canon Powershot SX50. I am not savvy to what the tags mean. The buildings are representative of the city's downtown skyline.
