A relic of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and in a proud tradition of fanciful 404s.

Bringing this out of retirement was inspired by the recent fine example from she-who-must.

Freddie Garrity (14 November 1936 – 19 May 2006)[1] was a singer and actor who was frontman and comical element in the 1960s pop band, Freddie and the Dreamers.

Born in Manchester, Freddie worked as a milkman while playing in local skiffle groups: the Red Sox, the John Norman Four, and finally the Kingfishers, who became Freddie and the Dreamers in 1959. In the early years of the band, Garrity’s official birth-date was given as 14 November 1940 to make him appear younger and, therefore, more appealing to the youth market who bought the majority of records sold in the UK.

Garrity’s trademark was his habit of leaping up and down during performances. This, combined with his almost skeletal appearance and horn-rimmed glasses, made him an eccentric figure in the UK pop scene of the early 1960s.

Freddie and the Dreamers disbanded in the late 1960s and between 1971 and 1973 Garrity and former bandmate Peter Birrell appeared in the ITV children’s television show Little Big Time. Garrity also made an appearance on the Granada Television production The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club in early 1974; and he appeared in an episode of Heartbeat as a DJ, who played a Freddie and the Dreamers record, "I'm Telling You Now".

After his television career ended, Garrity formed a new version of Freddie and the Dreamers and toured regularly for the next two decades, but no further records or chart success came their way. He continued to perform until 2001, when he was diagnosed with emphysema after collapsing during a flight, thus forcing him into retirement.

With his health in decline, Garrity settled in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was married three times and had one child from his first marriage, Jackie, and three from his second marriage, Nicola, Danielle, and Matthew. Freddie Garrity died at Bangor in North Wales, at the age of 69, after being taken ill while on holiday. (Wikipedia)

Almost comical in his juxtaposition, Wang Zi embodies satire and irony in his cleverly constructed works. The artist finds especial delight in the art of realistic painting and the ability to integrate fantastical situations as actual happenings. He possesses the technique of being able to turn imagination into a sombre historical event. Intrigued by the personalities of iconic figures behind the rose-tinted view of film and pop culture images, Wang Zi sometimes includes himself as a subject, caught in mundane everyday tasks with a popular celebrity. Through these almost comical situations, he wishes to display the icons on screens as the human beings they are - a disillusionment that struck him on the passing of Chairman Mao. He noticed the regression from a Demi-God of Political China to being simply a human being, albeit a powerful one, who bled and breathed the same as any other.

This photo is from the 2nd parade at the Mazatlan Carnival in February 2009 - it goes along the Malecon back into downtown Mazatlan. The parade is pretty comical - the actual parade is preceded by about 20 minutes of floats loaded with gorgeous women riding beer floats waving at the crowds. This photo is from the actual parade. What a very interesting parade!

Small comical relieve.

So the crude, grey backdrop is our balcony. It's pretty sad place really. Well, it's been really hot, and our poor bunny, Inno, grey thing made of fluff on the left, has been overhelmed by the heat. So we took his cage to our balcony, since it's nice and cool, and he has made it to his kingdom now (as you can see from all the mess xD ). He is a grumpy gentleman, who takes very little intrest on people. As I was trying to take pics, he got interested about Tico, so I let him have a snif. Second later he wanted to eat his pants. Oh Inno...

This performer, officially say チョンダラー (I don't know how to spell in English, but it's like CHON DOLLER), has a important role in Eisa folk dance. Usually he is a man, painting his face in white and other colors like a comical performer (or Pierrot). Sometimes he dances, sometimes he goes on the hook during dancing, and sometimes he leads the team!

「京太郎」とかいて「チョンダラー」と読むそうです。ほかに「三郎」(サナジャー、サンダー、サンラー)という呼び方をするところもあるそうです。

This view of a Sandhill Crane is always a bit comical. I like their eyes, and they have a pretty good range of vision. This color is untouched, their eyes really can be almost as red as their heads, sometimes they are more orange or gold. Part of that may be seasonal, as some birds' eye color, and even beak and feather color intensifies just before and during mating season. For more information on these and other cranes, please visit www.savingcranes.org

Unfortunately our table found the dark swirl of aubergine puree too funny to not crack a joke or two at. Of course that was soon quelled with the first taste of this unctuous and concentrated mass of absolute luxury.

Roasted rack of lamb, confit breast, lamb Bolognese and provençale vegetables £10.50

Neither gamey nor overdone, the rack of lamb at maze was a glorious specimen of medium-rare. The juicy rib was drizzled with a tomato-based chunky bolognaise of ground lamb, another grand tableside performance which struck me as a two star gesture. More tasty lamb made its appearance on the plate as a square of fork-tender confit breast, an edible pedestal for the rib, with gently grilled vegetables, still holding on to their essence (taste, structure and personalities), surrounded the plate's star. However, the real scene stealer was the dollop of aubergine puree – so concentrated with flavour, silky smooth, and well seasoned that I easily dismissed about its rather comical soft-serve swirl appearance. It was *that* amazing.

I was only naked under my kilt when I ordered it.

This harpsichord was comically out of tune. Like, not "a little sharp". Like, "notes were completely random". Like, "going up a half step on the keys would take you down a whole step". It was awesome.

Comical pile of snow on fence post.

ODC2. Sitting down.

I did get some photos of my father fully sitting down, but I preferred this one as it was far more comical. He has a habit of pulling faces like this, which I thought would bring some humor to the challenge. But again still at the National Trust, and I used him as my model for today (but lets keep that between us) *hehe* well, not too much to explain, so happy Sunday everyone.

Day 130 – You did it again you fool

I think almost every journey I take has some hilarious mishap or comical tragedy. I have been waiting for this trip for over a week yet I still managed to get halfway down my road before realising I’d not seen my passport. A quick pat down revealed that I did not have it. Walking back to the house I had a pretty good idea where it would be, sitting on my shelf smiling sweetly and giggling at my pathetic attempt to leave the country.

The shelf appeared to be empty, that was not in cool. I checked my drawers, bedside table and bed. Panic is creeping in. I then did what anyone would do at this point; I checked all the places it couldn’t possibly be in, the living room, the kitchen, under my bed, a tiny gap between the floor and the wall! It was not in any of those places, this was bad, bad, bad. Not only do I want to get to Scotland to see Catriona, which may be possible on a driver’s license, I have a flight to Paris only hours after I arrive back in Dublin. One thing is for sure, I can’t fly to Paris on a driver’s license, not matter how charming I am.

From what I gather of these situations there are 3 stages of panic. The Blip: a momentary scare causes a rush of blood to the head, The Fear: prolonged exposure to an serious situation marked by adrenaline and hyperactivity with moments of irrationality, Blind panic is the last and most serious stage, once here nothing constructive can happen, all control is lost. I have never reached stage 3, I seem to be blessed with an immunity to panic, I think it is called insanity.

At this point I had certainly reached stage 2, the adrenaline rush hit me and I had a moment (as noted by an outburst of “Fuck Where Is It!” shouted at thin air). I was calm. “Think Dan, think,” was spinning in my head, that’s when the answer hit me like a brick in the face, I stopped dead. What was I wearing the last time I travelled.

This fucking jacket I was wearing now. I checked the pockets again, this time by actually putting my hand in them. Voila, I’d had it all along. “Fuck me you stupid god dammed son of a bitch,” I snarled out loud, now I was sweaty and bothered and late for my bus. I threw on my bags and headed out the door double time, which turned into half time due to my laptop bag banging off my thigh.

As the bus pulled away I smiled, it was really no surprise that I had missed it. It was a warm, sunny valentines day, I was on my way to meet a beautiful girl and now I had a long walk on which I could think about her.

Looks comically overengineered to me (the sympton Venturi diagnosed as 'sagging guywires'), but wouldn't it be great if 'real' architects still designed supermarkets today?

Meerkats may look like prairie dogs, are really related to the mongoose. These comical creatures are inquisitive and alert at all times, you see them busily digging in the dirt looking for insects, making underground burrows.

These little carnivores live and work together in a group called a gang or a mob, helping each other to care for youngsters or keep a lookout for danger. If trouble is spotted, the lookout alerts the others and they all dash back into the burrows for safety. Fun to watch! :)

The Meerkat (aka: Suricate) is a small species of foraging mammal found inhabiting harsh open conditions in the semi-desert plains in southern Africa.

A member of the Mongoose family, Meerkats differ from Mongoose species in a number of ways with the biggest difference being that Meerkats are incredibly sociable animals, where most Mongooses are not.

Hope you enjoyed!

A comical photo op that I saw. May 3, 2013, Kingston, PA.

The usual comical, frantic, jerky feeding behavior of this egret usually allows it to be identified from a great distance off even though you cannot discern any of its field marks. It's my favorite large wader to watch trying to secure a meal. This bird, however was remarkably subdued... it was uncharacteristically calm and patient! This behavior is more typical for its larger cousin: Great Egret.
