Drop the Dead Donkey was a situation comedy that first aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom between 1990 and 1998. It is set in the offices of "GlobeLink News" , a fictional TV news company. Recorded close to transmission , it made use of contemporary news events to give the programme a greater sense of realism . It was created by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin . The series had an ensemble cast, making stars of Haydn Gwynne, Stephen Tompkinson and Neil Pearson .
The series began with the acquisition of GlobeLink by media mogul Sir Roysten Merchant , an allusion to either Robert Maxwell or Rupert Murdoch . Indeed , Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin note on their DVDs that it was fortunate for their libel lawyers that the two men shared the same initials . The series is mostly based on the ongoing battle between the staff of GlobeLink , led by editor George Dent , as they try to maintain the company as a serious news organisation , and Sir Roysten’s right-hand man Gus Hedges , trying to make the show more sensationalist and suppress stories that might harm Sir Roysten’s business empire.
The show was awarded the Best Comedy (Programme or Series) Award at the 1994 BAFTA Awards. At the British Comedy Awards the show won Best New TV Comedy in 1990, Best Channel 4 Comedy in 1991, and Best Channel 4 Sitcom in 1994.

What could possibly bring together a 450 pound vampire slayer, a drunken, acid-tongued detective, a good natured carpenter, bureaucratic vampires, giant anacondas, mutant vampire bats, Ho Hos, Twinkies and more one-liners than a night at the comedy club? Dunkin, the vampire slayer blends all this discordance and more into a hilarious adventure that moves from the muggy heat of Florida to the muggier heat of the Amazon. ....If Carl Hiaasson, Tim Dorsey and Dave Barry collaborated on a vampire story, it may have turned out like this absurd romp.... This is part one of a trilogy.
Hey! This is book one and the introduction of Devlin, hero of three other novels I have perpetrated on an unsuspecting public. Book two, Dunkin the Vampire Slayer: Death Rides A Pale, Pink, Porcine Horse is available at www.veinarmor.com. Book three, Dunkin the Vampire Slayer: It Ain't Over Til the Fat Man Stings is currently undergoing final hackery by me--The Hack!
A wonderful night at the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip. Always gonna love these neon caricatures and, yes, I do recognize all of them!

The Kush Dance Group performs during the “Comedy for Peace" event, supported by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), at the Nyakuron Cultural Centre on Sunday, 23 April in Juba. The event featured the best of South Sudanese comedians and musical acts, including Emmanuel Kembe, Woklii, Feel Free, Lotole Captain Eddy, Kon Kuol Kon and more.
I remember nothing about this (improv?) comedy show, except that at one point they pulled out helium balloons, inhaled, and then squeaked "Ferngullyyyyyy!" in unison. No idea what the guy with a head on his head is doing here.

Alien Autopsy is a 2006 British comedy film with elements of science fiction, directed by Jonny Campbell. Written by William Davies, it relates the events surrounding the famous "alien autopsy" film promoted by Ray Santilli and stars Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, also known as Ant & Dec. The film was a moderate commercial success domestically, making no. 3 on the British box office chart.
After Terence and I had done our earlier iPod transparent/x-ray shot experiment, I had this idea for a little mock Apple advertisement. So here's the product of our fevered imaginations.
Strobist info (which Terence, below, reminds me to add): 580EX M1/1 into white foamcore, camera left, for a side fill. SB-25 M1/1 bounced off the ceiling, both fired via Pocket Wizard Plus II's. The iPod dock is stuck via double-sided tape to a reflective black acrylic sheet.
This shot required three initial images (and a fourth for additional detail); we left the dock in place and shot from the same position with the same lighting each time, but dismantled the iPod one step at a time between the shots. The fourth shot was a higher ISO, to get a brighter and more detailed image of the circuit board to blend in for increased detail. The set of shots were combined in Photoshop CS4, and then the text added. :)
(Also posted over in the TwinGeeksPhoto stream Terence put together.)
