Premessa: questi dovevano essere i miei primi scatti con una Bencini Koroll II, che qualche tempo fa ho visto sola e triste in un mercatino dell’usato e siccome ho il cuore tenero l’ho subito adottata, pulita, curato una piccola ferita, e dato da mangiare nuova pellicola.
La piccola mangia rullini 120, gliene dò uno a colori e lo porto a sviluppare assieme all’altro rullino 120 che ho dato in pasto alla Brownie n°II, e al 35mm che si è mangiata la più piccola dippold-pin(h)ola.
Di tutti e tre chiedo la scansione dei negativi ma, sorpresa sorpresa, quando vado a ritirarli non ci sono le scansioni del rullo della Bencini. Il ragazzo del negozio, tra l’altro molto gentile nonché bravo fotografo, mi dice che dal laboratorio hanno rimandato indietro il rullo perché sono rimasti perplessi di fronte allo strano formato dei fotogrammi. Io rimango più perplesso di loro, perché se hanno fatto le scansione del 120 della Brownie (che produce un’immagine in formato 6x9 sul negativo, tra l’altro più grande di quella della Bencini), che ti sembri strano o no, non capisco quale sia la difficoltà da superare nello scansionare immagini più piccole, ancorché di formato e disposizione inusuali o poco diffusi.
Che poi questa storia della Koroll II due che produceva immagini in un formato strano l’avevo già sentita… altra storia che, una volta avuta la Bencini in mano e andato a vedere qual’era questa mitica “stranezza”, mi aveva lasciato un po’ perplesso. Perché in realtà il formato in sé, non ha proprio niente, ma proprio niente di niente, di strano e nemmeno di poco comune. Ma continuo qua sotto, così posso inserire delle foto ed esser più chiaro…

I've been working on this image for awhile now and I am finally happy to share it!
It was taken during a snowstorm, so I had to grab my camera during the insane wind gusts and hope I didn't get blown off the mountain. During the walk up my feet got completely soaked from walking through puddles and snow, so it was a bit agonizing waiting for some light on the Little Horn and for the wind to die down but it was all worth it Some golden fagus in the foreground, twisted lakes in the midground and Cradle Mountain in the background.
I hope you all like it!

Le flamant rose dort debout sur une ou deux pattes, la tête cachée sous une aile. Contrairement à la plupart des oiseaux, à cause de leur taille, les flamants doivent prendre quelques mètres d'élan pour décoller des eaux. Migrateurs, ils volent en formation, en gardant cou et pattes étirés. Les battements d'ailes, puissants et réguliers, les propulsent à 60 km/h sur des étapes de plusieurs centaines de kilomètres.
Flamingos often stand on one leg, the other leg tucked beneath the body. The reason for this behaviour is not fully understood. Recent research indicates that standing on one leg may allow the birds to conserve more body heat, given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water. However, the behaviour also takes place in warm water. As well as standing in the water, flamingos may stamp their webbed feet in the mud to stir up food from the bottom.

Linden
Linden is the least populated town in the Blue Mountains served by its own Railway Station. Linden does however offer some fascinating history.
Just off the Great Western Highway within the bush you can find the ruins of ‘Weemala’ which was built in 1881. Unfortunately this building was destroyed by the 1968 bush fires which swept out of control through the Blue Mountains. Probably of more importance than Weemala is Linden Lodge after which the town is named and which is still standing.
It was raining and mist rising from the wet valleys, but a lovely view all the same! The setting sun peeking through just briefly to add a splash of colour and warmth.
