With a leather black dress like this.. the age-old question is: "Should I wear black or red heels with it?" 😉
To settle this question, I put up a voting poll in my Instagram Stories.
43% liked the outfit with black heels.. but more importantly: 57% preferred the red heels. Can't say I was surprised but I still love the black heels myself. It just makes my legs look soooo long!!
Check out the BLOG for photos with the black heels! 👆

¿ caballo ganador ?
¡ cómo no sea de peso !
siempre estas comiendo
no hay yerba que se te resista
que encuentres en tu paso
con la testa cabizbajo
apenas conozco tu rostro
a no ser por la cola
con el " maslo " en movimiento
y las crines al viento
¡ caballo ganador !
que nunca vas al trote
ni tan siquiera al galope
siempre paciente paciendo
siempre tranquilo y sereno
esperando a que tu cuidador
te dé una señal de amor
una caricia de cariño
que tú, agradecido devolveras .
¡¡ Ahí, sí, eres ......caballo ganador !!

I arrived early in Yosemite Valley one day and made my way down a muddy
trail to the shores of the Merced River and was treated to the light from
the rising sun breaking over the east end of the valley. Fog rose off the
Valley floor and I snapped off this shot at the base of El Capitan.

El Matador's Avocado and Chicken Soup

Q: My wife and I love good soup, and one of our favorites is the Avocado and Chicken Soup at El Matador restaurant in Tucker. Is it possible to get the recipe?
- Jim Chambers, Tucker
A: Only in America! Where else can a Jordanian immigrant come to a country, work on an assembly line in an electronics plant, become good friends with immigrants from Mexico, develop a fondness for Mexican culture, music and food and then open a restaurant specializing in Mexican, with a touch of Middle Eastern cuisine? That is the story of Ismail Sirdah, who came here 17 years ago from Jordan, is now an American citizen and owner of El Matador, a casual Tex-Mex restaurant that boasts everyday fresh ingredients.

We are what we create.
I have no doubt about it. We might be searching for a way of expression for long years and try a lot of things till we find it, we may be struggling with prejudice and limitations, with doubt and with being misunderstood, we may have to ignore common sense and go against the flow, we may have to figure out new ways of escaping what we call reason, what we call reality (what is reality anyway?) but in the end, what we will settle for can only be that very thing that expresses what we are completely, that helps us feel accomplished and free, that helps a restless soul find peace and allow us to stop and take a breath. If you look at this image you will see very much of what I am. I won't explain it, I don't want to limit your imagination. :) I will say just one thing: whatever this journey may take, do it! It's much better to burn out searching than never know...
OK, now that we said what was important, here's a few words about this image. First, it's been two and a half months since my last architectural image, which may seem a lot but it actually isn't for me, as I've done a lot of searching, discovered a lot of things, even worked on a handful of images that are to come soon. I've done some thinking, I've done some experimenting and the results will show in the months to come. I've even tried to step away from architectural photography to see how it is, but despite the fact that I love all kinds of photography, I think my call is architectural photography. There's nothing I love more than working with shapes and light, nothing I like more than abstracting a volume till it shows a part that would hardly show to the naked eye. I finally understood what I'm trying to do in photography and that is exactly what I'm doing in architecture too. I am designing my photographs to suit my vision. I am deconstructing the volumes I see and recomposing them using light and shadow, I am in essence using the existing subject, I'm using reality as a base on which I build my own dreams. Photography, architectural photography is the tool my imagination needs to stay alive and to express itself. It would be interesting I think to show you the RAW file of this image. I'm sure you wouldn't recognize much of what you see here in that image. But hey, you will tell me, that's manipulation! Well, yes, you're perfectly right, I will answer you! But who said I want to do traditional photography anyway? This may not even be photography, as a matter of fact. This may be something else. This IS something else! As I was calling it a while ago while discussing with a friend, this is “(en)visionography”. More on this concept coming soon...
And at last a few words about the image and the processing side of it... But, since this is getting long, let's better move over to my site if you want to read more about processing and also to read my answer to a question I'm getting quite often lately, a question about my skies... blog.juliaannagospodarou.com/ode-to-black-iii-extreme-bla...

I met this old lady during Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal, April 2015. She was 94 years old. This was only a few days before the eathquake struck.
See a bit bigger
This is another quick and dirty edit. I don't really have the time to spend much time editing lately so took about five minute to throw about 6 curve layers on here and a white balance shift. My favorite shot of the day is going to sit dormant for a while until I can figure out how to process it.
I spotted Charlie Widdis, local photographer and only other yahoo to brave the -12f this morning out on the rocks. The breakwater is completely exposed to the wind and damn it was chilly. I was hoping that there would be some seasmoke coming up over the breakwater but low tides combined with biting winds kept the smoke from really rising up in this area. To the right, the bay was filled with billowing smoke but no real interest.
Spent the morning playing with the telephoto to compress the smoke for a little more drama. I only popped the wide angle on for a few shots including this one. I always forget that just because you can't see something on your 2 inch lcd (in this case the seasmoke or lighthouse) doesn't mean that it won't turn out when viewed on a 27 inch monitor.
Interesting tidbit that I have now learned about walking on breakwaters in the winter over the last few days. Make sure you are probing where you step ahead of you. Not sure how many near disastrous steps I almost took into the crevices between the rocks.

Dale Chihuly is the artist who created “Fiori di Como,” the glass sculpture that hangs from the ceiling in Bellagio’s lobby.
The sculpture consists of 2,000 hand-blown glass blossoms that weigh about 40,000 pounds. They are supported by a 10,000-pound steel armature. Every morning between 2 and 5 a.m., a team of eight to 10 engineers cleans and maintains the sculpture.

Shooting murals and similar street art (graffiti I can do without) is always a favorite of mine when working the streets of a city. The art throughout the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami is absolutely some of the best I've ever come across. The food and other entertainment in the area is quality as well.
The comments shot is a very large mural on the roof of the building, only visible from above.
Thanks for looking!

another classic bass harbor shot you've probably seen a million times. we only saw about 2-3 other photographers out here when we visited last month and it was cold as hell. the one guy we saw kept complaining how the light was not perfect and right before sundown, he packed it up because he wasn't happy about the light - something about the sky/clouds not being red enough. sorry but i had to chuckle quietly a few times. photography is not about perfection - it is about making the best out of the situation you're dealt with. besides, if you cannot make something out of an imperfect situation, i strongly doubt you'll be able to make something even when the situation is perfect.
geek note: this is a tough vantage to shoot the sunset and i always see people firing that shutter like crazy here in order to do some kind of hdr or blending stuff. well guess what, if you come in the winter, the south sun is positioned very nicely where the exposure can be better controlled than any other time of the year. at least that's what i learned from this trip. :)
Grand Teton National Park at Oxbow Bend, along the Snake River.
People ask me why or when do you shoot a scene in the 'landscape' orientation (horizontal) or in the 'portrait' orientation (vertical). I discuss this in detail in one of my free landscape articles--see below. Most landscape shots are framed horizontally, because that fits best with the scene. The choice for the serious nature photographer is more complex. The first decision you must make is, what is the end purpose of the shot? A calendar image is almost always shot horizontally. A magazine cover is shot vertically. For this shot, I did both. Follow the link below to see the horizontal image of this scene.
www.flickr.com/photos/wwwca/3669960447/
From looking at the two images of the same scene shot seconds apart, you can see how different they are. One encompasses the entire scene--the forest, the river, the snow-capped Teton mountains and the ducks are very small. It is a 'grand' scene. The shot above, the vertical one, 'zooms in' and focuses on Mt Moran and its reflection on the Snake River. Here the ducks are more of an important part of the scene--a secondary compositional element.
When I approach a scene like this, I try to always shoot it both ways and then process them to get the best out of the shot. If Outdoor Photographer magazine ever wants a magazine cover of Oxbow Bend, I have it. ;>) Please feel free to call!
Also note the 'placement' of the ducks in the version above. Now as a nature photographer, I did not swim out into the Snake River and 'place' the four ducks. As the patient nature photographer, I waited for the duck to place themselves for this shot. While my photography partner James Neeley was making his way along the river's shore taking many great images, I was setup on my tripod and just waiting for the ducks to swim into place. Then I snapped away, horizontally and vertically. One of the most important things I like to teach about nature photography is the 'art of waiting'. James Neeley, Jeff Sullivan, Kevin McNeal and I will be teaching a landscape and nature photography workshop here next June.
