More Garage Studios homework, this time playing silly buggers with a colour splash flash and a long exposure. Must I pull such faces???
I wasn't sure whether to do this colour version, or the black and white shot with a colour splash, so i did both. Which do you prefer? Fav the one you prefer so I know which is most popular. Thanks

2) Here is what I started with. This is made from 3/16" white foamboard purchased from an American firm, Michael's Craft Stores. This outfit is the 'big box' store of craft stores in North America. Like a number of U. S. companies, they have a Canadian operation. This is one of my favourite stores.

3) Here is the cardboard display case that I put on the foamboard 'corner' that I showed above.

4) I then place a piece of white 'bristleboard' on the foamboard base, and the black display case to the sides and rear.

5) Here is an example of a glass object, with elastics on it. The elastics were used to hold the coloured pencils in place for the image 'Colour Splash'.

The invaluable technique of using the flash on-camera, and also aimed above the subject, or more often, above and behind the camera, away from the subject, is one of the techniques that I learnt at Neil van Niekerks website www.planetneil.com/tangents

During our winter i spend most of my time indoors practicing mostly on and off camera flash technique. I like to practice ambient outdoors.

Colour Splash on an iPhone 4. It's a nice looking bottle of sauce. Will be a shame to open it but the hotdogs are calling!!

At this time of year, I always try & keep a close eye on the sky at dusk time. There can be some very colourful skies about, but you have to be quick to catch them as hey don't usually last long.
The other evening, I was out and about just in time to catch this scene. It was like a huge daub of colour had been splashed across the sky. I intentionally got the silhouttes of the tress at the bottom to give an idea of scale.

I shot this in spain when i had not long had my 1000D, it was in a small town which i visited.
I just wish i had a wider angle lens at the time so i could of got some of the street below.
The final edit:
It was converted to black and white in Photoshop, then just painted through the mask to bring back the colour in the lanterns.
Not what I would normally upload, but a work friend decided to have us all round for steak and chips (DAMN he can cook). But I decided to shoot the whole night using just my Holga and Sprocket Rocket. Here are the ones I liked, found interesting and just found aesthetically pleasing. Its something that I feel Ive seen before but never shot before, reminds me of a few different photographers work. Variety of films used inc' Neopan, XP2, and Portra (I think) with the addition of the Lomo Colour Splash film.
