The Government Gardens was buzzing this early morning with bees and butterflies all around the herbs, flowers and native tee trees. The sky was bright blue and clear, with 25'c, totally calm and sunny. This bee was so pre-occupied with collecting nectar off the Black eyed Susan flowers, I just followed it with my 200mm lens and caught it as it landed.

Playing around with photoshop to bring out one colour with some added scratches and dust. Quite pleased with the end result.

This little fairy was wandering around Parnell this morning. We went for our weekly shopping at the French Market and left with a bag full of veg for $25, bargain! A nice coffee break meant I could capture this little bare foot beauty! The town was a flush with fairies, face painting, sales and deck chairs. I can't believe we're in the last month of Autumn here and it was such a gorgeous day!

We then headed home, dropped off our goods and then headed back out to the Auckland Domain and we finally got the War Museum. As Aucklander's, we get free access to the museums. We only had a small amount of time inside before it was closing but we saw a couple of exhibitions, mainly the life of Auckland City Centre. Fascinating!! Only one street from where we're staying now was originally the coastline, hence the name Beach Road!!

Then from here we walked to the fish market at the Wynyard Quarter. Dan and Naell have recommended this place for food for some time now so we finally decided to indulge. And it was fantastic. We had the seafood platter, delicious, together with some happy hour wine. A real treat. We also picked up a book on New Zealand vineyards - we think this book will come in very handy for our visitors!!

Finally, I'd like to wish a very happy 6th wedding anniversary to my brother Gavin and sister-in-law Amanda! Congratulations poppets, have a fantastic holiday x x

Today's goodies! Barbie and Nikki from Fashionistas Colour Splash, Barbie from Fashionistas Clutch Wave 1, Life in the Dreamhouse Barbie and some clothes packs! I really really hoped to finish off my Life in the Dreamhouse dolls but they didn't have Midge in 3 stores and the one that had Nikki had crazy eyes! :(

After moving to California in 1994, Saint Phalle began to paint less, increasingly working with sculpture and mosaic techniques. As shown in Buddha, she used mirror, glass and stone to create vivacious, glittering sculptures on a monumental scale.

“The usually serene and formal Royal Botanic Garden reveals a surprisingly bold nightlife.

“As darkness falls, the transformation begins: gentle slopes become electric grids, sweeping shafts of light direct attention from the path deep into the foliage. All around patterns and movements dance across the trees; elsewhere bursts of colour splash and dazzle and ripple across the lawns.

“Not so sedate now.”

A bit of an artsy colour-splash shot of the floating harbour from Welshback, Bristol.

There is something about facing the pushing curtain of wind at the face of the sea. The same wind that causes ripples in the sea causes creases on your clothes, causes your hair to flutter and causes a hurricane in your ears and an earthquake for your eye lashes. There is something therapeutic about being thrashed with the waves of the sea. Perhaps it is in these places that one finds their strength. Strength , I said the word aloud at this juncture to check if I had written it right. The sky is more clouds than sun and an airplane full of people is piercing its way through them. So many people could be on this plane with so many stories. There's a man in bright red shorts and a pale blue shirt fishing in front of me in the distance. I wonder if he sings. There are as many crows as there are plastic bags in the sea. It's filthy. The sky is a yellow blue grey and the water is a silvery blue grey. I'm a blue grey too. But inside, in the corner of myself, I've found a bit of myself. This afternoon another wave crashed on my stone and then went back into the sea. I watched another wave, another airplane, all at my very own splendid sky.

There it was…

a chair…

all on it's own…

under a pylon…

in the middle of nowhere.

A Square Cropped and Filtered version of the Original : DSC_0431. The Dark Grey areas are an attempt at Colour Splash which did not work, but having gone to the bother of putting them in, I decided to leave them for interest.
