Despite the cold on Christmas Eve, Zack Deering and his father (not pictured) decided to trek the frozen lake to check the ice depth on Lake Mendota. At this spot, the ice was roughly nine inches deep although we were all unsure of how long that would last with highs in the coming week of almost 50° I wanted to take more photos but my memory card was full and my hands too cold up change it. Maybe we'll cross paths later in winter when I take the fat bike for a spin on the lake?! Yep, it really was that dark blue out there at twenty past three. EXIF data says an hour later so I think the camera is still on summer time!
Me: "Then shall we go home soon?"
Leslie: "NO! Actually I'm warm!!"
Me: "Hmm.. What if I make some hot cocoa???"
Leslie: "YEAHHH! Oh boy, let's go home now!!!!"

First Week of 2B..Beyond Beyond...I'm a bit late but first lesson done...not exactly how I would have liked it but I have limited computer time these days...
I loved the lesson as and I'm learning to love still photography...it stretches my mind in ways that it doesn't always want to go but it is fun to try something different every now and again..
So when its cold...pick up your knitting needles and grab some really good merino wool and get started on your socks...if knitting isn't your bag...put the needles down and have a taste of my homemade limoncello...guaranteed to warm you up...made with 100 proof vodka and lots of love.

When morning temps dropped to 28 degrees one morning recently, the hummingbirds didn't stray far from the sugar water feeders and perched ruffled up to help insulate themselves against the cold. After taking a couple of snaps of this little jewel, I took several feeders inside and ran warm water over them to help them unthaw.
