The Tromsø palm looks absolutely beautiful decorated with snow. In the summer, the excitement is not so great, it is very hardy and can grow up to 50 years old and three meters high. The ability to spread means that it often inhibits or outcompetes other plant growth
Winter has settled over the forests, lakes and marshes of my home. This landscape is from a nearby marsh, in the cold hours of the afternoon. The marsh has been covered in both snow and ice.
Since it is already December, I am letting Christmassy things, such as music, creep quietly into my soul and heart.

Snow develops in clouds that themselves are part of a larger weather system and snow crystals form when tiny supercooled cloud droplets freeze.
The physics of snow crystal development in clouds results from a complex set of variables that include moisture content and temperatures.
Snow is nature`s own sound absorber, dampening sound waves. Who do not enjoy the silence when snow is falling.

Cold November evening, Colorado. The two coaches were wearing warm, insulated and hooded coats and gloves, and walked on the deck in their lined boots. The children would periodically get out of the heated pool to get their gear, such as fins for swimming laps. They laughed and chattered much of the time during their hour-long workout. All seemed so very normal to them. Earlier in 2022, the coldest temperature I've noted when they were still working out was 14F/-10C. Amazing!
It's better to be inside and look out the window.

A stone mound is a pile of stones, a man-made element in agricultural landscape, or cultural landscape. The cultivated land has been cleared of stones, and the stones has been gathered in a pile.
Stone mounds have been characteristic element in the agricultural landscape for a long time. The oldest stone mounds in Norway are several thousands years old. From the Neolithic period until the middle of the 18th century, the stone mounds were usually 2-5 meters in diameter and thrown together by hand.
From the middle of 18th century, it became more common to drag the stone together in fewer and larger piles, which are usually located on the edge of the field. These larger piles have been made with horses and sleighs. The stone mounds from the middle of the 18th century onwards can be large and clearly visible elements in the landscape.

In Cafe Thirteen enjoying a coffee. Out of interest I once again used the Fuji RAW editing system using my Kodak Ektar 100 simulation but just reduced the shadow setting to get this picture. With my normal editing system you do get a little more details but a reduction in my mind of the overall picture effect. Nothing is perfect at my level but I do enjoy the fun of it.
