not that great of a shot, but just wanted to post something. thanks for all of your comments and visits!

The temperature dropped back down into the high 30s this morning. It doesn’t stop the green. But it does mean I got to enjoy this beautiful morning alone. Everybody else is complaining about it. I’ve loving it. That’s pretty much how my life goes.

Outlet glacier of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord (Evighedsfjorden) in Western Greenland with glacier Taateraat Sermiat.

Very cold last night by Isle Of Man standards. In the harbour it left a thin carpet of ice crystals draped over clumps of sea weed like fabric covers, as the tide went out.

Recent holiday in Gran Canaria - had a go at taking several images several minutes apart in a Panorama - looking to get the cool light into the warm capturing texture in the dunes - pretty pleased with the outcome.

Dv12 2743 cold start on a freezing morning at Seinäjoki depot.

Really cold - all the cars had thick white sparkly coats, and the meadow was monochrome. The frost took a while to melt, even when the sun came out (and it did, we had another day of clear blue skies).

A lonely windmill stands in the stark coldness of an Iowa winter.

The crystals looked so clean and pure.I saw icicles on the banks leading down to the falls, as thick as my arm.

The cosmos now shows evidence of having been at least loosely shaped from the start by what we may call a “narrative cosmological principle.”14 Built into matter, in addition to mathematical pattern, is the kind of indeterminate meaning that humans look for when reading or listening to stories. Consequently, if the cosmos exists as an unfinished story going on in irreversible time, we have good reason to wonder whether its narrative constitution plays host to a kind of meaning that science cannot reach, a meaning that may respond to our human attempts to live with purpose and hope.

What makes the post-Einsteinian picture of the universe so theologically compelling is that the kind of intelligibility it carries adds to the idea of geometric patterns a possible narrative disposition that may speak to our personal longing for a richer kind of meaning than that given by geometry.

The Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site at Hyde Park, New York was built and used as a vacation home in the country. It is on the cliffs above the Hudson river, which, big as it is, was smoothly frozen over and covered with snow. There was a bitterly icy wind driving snowflakes past the classical style urns on the porch, and the lions head symbols high on the limestone facade. Even expensive things get cold, I suppose.

There is thick ice on the cars this morning...and the primulas, pansies and Lenten roses by my back door all look limp. :(

I took drive to drop off some xmas prezzies and wanted to take some pictures with the snow, so I brought my cameras along. It was a foggy windy day, I trekked out to this spot to snap a few quick pictures before heading back for the warmth of my truck.

View of Halifax Harbour from Point Pleasant Park.

She stares out the window

waiting for the sun to reach her

but there is no sun today

She waits in vain

admiring the hanging lemons

glimpses of sun outside the glass

She stands near the stove

warm liquid boiling

socked feet on the cold floor

She is craving something

To warm her outside

Shivers

She has nothing left to give

everything is promised

to someone else

It's the most wonderful time

when we have something to give

She doesn't
