Almost as infamous as the mountain itself is the cog train. Riding it was one of the very few things I remember about my childhood New England trip (I was 3).

The cog railway train at the top of Mount Washington sits amongst fog.

On Good Friday we went up to see the most famous of Rios icons, Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado. The queues were long and we still had to wait ages for a train but it was well worth the effort. The cog train goes up through the Atlantic Rainforest of the Parque de Tijuca.
