On Friday morning some of my HPAD friends had a virtual coffee morning to join in with Macmillan's world's biggest coffee morning.
I was unable to take part as I had a manic day at the office. I didn't want to miss out however (who wants to miss out on coffee & cake?!) and so this picture is my contribution. It was taken this morning rather than on Friday but I hope it still counts :)
The coffee mug was given to me by my wonderful Nana who fought and beat cervical cancer several years ago and it seemed fitting to use it in my shot.

Grantham House, Grantham. Dating from the C13th, the house as seen today is largely that of the remodelling carried out for Ann Cust between 1730-7. Owned by the National Trust, the house is grade 1 listed. Despite the close proximity to the town centre, the site appears to retain the "Country Residence" which it once enjoyed. Guests have included Cardinal Wolsey and Margaret Tudor (daughter of Henry VII). Formerly rented out as a home, the Trust now lease the property to St Wulframs Church, which is also Grade 1 listed.

Day 270 - My wonderful wife has been baking. Some of these (if they are lucky) may survive the night and make it to work tomorrow for the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

The Lucien class coffee morning today at our house, the reason I've spent the past fortnight blitzing the downstairs to get it looking respectable. Well worth all the effort, the house was looking lovely, and coped pretty well with the 16 or so Mums - and 8 or 9 toddlers - that came along. I was mostly running around checking that everyone had tea/coffee/cake but in the brief conversations I managed, the other Mums seemed nice, and there are a couple in particular who have sons that have talked about Eli, and also younger daughters, who I will be targeting for playdates soon.
It wasn't until everyone had gone that I had a chance to sit down with a cup of tea and a slice of cake for myself. Much needed.

One of our participants arranged a coffee morning at her place. So we used it as an opportunity to get some surveys filled out. - We hate paperwork.

Tuesday is the coffee morning at St Andrew's Church

Coffee Morning is an annual nationwide event to raise funds for the Hospice movement, with the coffee sponsored by Bewleys' Coffee of Dublin. David was born in Palestine before the creation of the state of Israel.

After a fairly leisurely breakfast, I cycled over to Southrop for the coffee morning (or mulled wine morning, for me), and had some good conversations with people there. I arrived a bit at the tail end of things, but there had been a lot of people there through the morning. I got a bit wet on the way home, as it started to rain, but nothing too bad.
After lunch, I drove into Fairford to check on the Advent Trail, and repair a bit of wind damage, before going to do a bit of shopping in Lechlade, and in the garden centre on the way back.
I popped into the coffee morning at my church and saw these ears for sale on a stall of knick-knacks. I couldn't pass them up!

Everybody at AMK Gatwick did a wonderful job putting on a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support … the cakes, oh the cakes :)
Hannah's just got back from Malawi in Africa. She was so touched by the plight of some of the orphans over there that she decided to build an orpanage. So far she's raised about half of the money she needs by events like this coffee morning, and a sponsored walk along Hadrian's Wall. Her coffee morning raised £160 :)
If you've got a couple of pounds to spare you can sponsor her her walk along Hadrian's Wall here:

Friends of ours held a Macmillan Coffee Morning today. This is one of the creations which I brought home to photograph because it was so busy in their home that there was no room to swing a camera.
Our service was the first one in Lent, the time of preparation for Good Friday and Easter (not that I'm a great one for marking Lent!) and had a very poignant time of prayer for the people of Ukraine. This afternoon I did some more Coffee Morning posters, as we've decided to not charge for refreshments any more, but to have donations for a different charity each month. This month, of course, it will be one of the many charities which are giving support during the current crisis in Ukraine. I'll take these to another committee member to use during the week, as we'll be away.
