Honey bee (Apis mellifera) is the only species in the UK, a domestic species introduced by bee keepers. Honey bees are recognised by their slim, sandy thorax and black abdomen with golden-amber bands. They live in hives of up to 20,000 individuals, and are commonly found feeding on open flowers they can easily reach with their short tongues, including those of trees, herbs and shrubs.

The Common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant with a daisy-like flower face. Its scientific name comes from the Greek words helios (“sun”) and anthos (“flower”). The flowers come in many colours (yellow, red, orange, maroon, brown), but they are commonly bright yellow with brown centres that ripen into heavy heads filled with seeds. Sunflowers make excellent cut flowers, and many attract bees, birds, and butterflies.

The pathways here are strewn with driftwood and foliage that provide food and nesting material for the many species of birds which visit. The Lagoon is one of seven Migratory Bird Sanctuaries in British Columbia, and an important stopover for birds journeying between North and South America. Visitors include geese and Swans, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, plus many other species of birds.

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias) is a wading bird in the Heron family Ardeidae and found in North America, Central Ameria, the Caribean and Galapagos Islands. One of the largest of Herons, it has a head to tail length of 01-137 centimtres (36-54 inches) and a wingspan of 187-201 centimtres (66-79 inches). They are found where my family live, and naturally very wary of mankind, flying off as soon as you are within fifty to one hundred yards of them.

A time-lapse of the Rose City in a different light. This perspective gives us a better appreciation and feel for Portland; captured by lens. The subtle motion of clouds and the environment around us show how quickly time travels and that we are all but a small part in this big scheme of life.

Note: This is a fairly elementary video and is not a technical marvel; however, I worked with what I had given the time, circumstances, equipment, and budget. All photos were shot with the Canon S90 Powershot with varying f. field, ISO, ans shutter speed, depending on the circumstance of the shot being filmed. When I am able to afford fancier gadgets (aka HD camera, DSLR) I will try to make better product of Portland. In the mean time, search YouTube for better time lapse videos, or enjoy this one for now if it pleases you.

Just to prove that Global Warming is a myth and nothing more than a pack of pernicious lies, we just had us a nice little Hail Storm as you can see here.

Shot with the Canon PowerShot SX 1 Full HD cam @ 1920 x1080, Wide Screen, with zoom set to 2x.

Original file was 450 megabytes and then transcoded down to 38 megabytes using Quicktime Pro, first passing it through the Apple TV default settings and then transcoded again using the Divx codecs.

This makes this file about less than 7% of the size of the original, while still maintaining enough quality for it to be posted here.

I know that Flickr doesn't want to turn itself into YouTube, but I wonder about the size/time limits here.

I'm OK with the 500 megabyte limit for video, but not so much with the 90 second limit.

Using this simple method I can produce a video that is almost 20 minutes in length, so why shouldn't anyone be allowed to post videos that length if they fall under the size limit?

After all they won't be taking up any more space on the servers.

Just a thought.

30gb hard disk, a gorgeous high-res 4-inch lcd screen, and the ability to play just about all video formats (except Quicktime and Realplayer) - meet the Maxian T600 portable media player from Korea.

This little sucker does music and photos too. USB OTG feature means you can connect your digital camera (or card reader) via USB and transfer photos directly without a PC. You can even drag and drop VOB files, which are native to DVDs, and play them without conversion.

The T600 also has a Monitor mode, which allows you to connect other devices to it and use it a like a monitor. AV-OUT lets you play your movies on your TV (handy for watching your movies on the hotel room TV), AV-IN lets you record from your TV or cable set-top box (in 640 by 480 avi format).

The battery is detacheable and is supposed to last more than 6 hours for video and more than 14 hours for music. So you can purchase extra batteries for long-haul flights.

The company seems very on-the-ball about firmware updates, which hopefully means that new versions of video codecs like DIVX will always be playable on the T600.

Getting media files on the unit is as simple. Just connect it to the PC or Mac via USB and it mounts as an external hard drive.

The screen really rocks. Wide viewing angle and very sharp and bright. I recently tried watching anime on the 2.2 inch screen of an Archos Gmini 400 and while the quality of the Archos screen was great, it was way too small to see the subtitles. That will not be a problem on this model.

Oi, haven't done any HDR in a long time. Found a nice codec pack somewhere, so now I can rummage through the backlog. This is Reims. Also, some time ago, as you see they're just finishing of building the cathedral at the end of the road :-)

Day 1: Four hour quick tour of last day of CES exhibits. But no time for big dramatic entertaining exhibitors. Spent most of the time in the small-booth innovation areas discussing video codec technicalities and licensing. Had a quick dinner alone at a mediocre Mexican restaurant and then did several hours of ruby-on-rails hacking in my hotel room.

Day 2: Spent all day at a technical conference attending presentations on esoteric engineering topics. Dinner that evening provided by the conference was mediocre pizzza, though had some good conversation with some grad students from a German university. Went back to hotel room early to work on presentation I was giving the following day.

Day 3: Not too worried about my presentation because anyway it was the work of someone else I was presenting as a favor. Also as many of the other presenters had limited English speaking ability, anything i did was going to look good. The presentation did go pretty well and prompted some useful networking contacts afterwards. I also met my old boss from many years ago when I worked in London on electronic design-for-test -- both he and I have since moved on and ended up working in the consumer space. Finally a quick dinner and a taxi to the airport and an evening flight back to san Francisco.

In the whole time I never left the Hilton/Convention Center complex of buildings except for one bus shuttle trip on Day 1 to one of the other CES venues. I did however have a room high up in the Hilton with a good view, as you can see in the photo. I did not feel I was missing anything -- I had been to Las Vegas enough in the past to have seen most of the must-see things.

How lame was this? For most people probably very . For me I actually enjoyed most of it.

Sound Loop edited with Sony Sound Forge 9. Adobe Premiere to add fade in/out effect then export to Microsoft DV (NTSC) with frame size 720x480 and Finally reduced file size with "Fx, MPEG Writer" to make it less than 150MB.

I saw the two crickets teasing each other for a long time in the backyard. The sun went down in the middle of the shoot so I brought out a cop-style LED flashlight and put it on a lighting stand with a superclamp. Very simple setup. I shot the extreme closeups with the sensor crop mode enabled on the GH2 which is basically a 5:1 macro with 470mm equivalent on a full frame DSLR, delivering crisp 1080p24 footage.

Equipment used:

Panasonic GH2, Tamron AF 90/2.8 macro lens w/ Nikon mount, Novoflex MFT/NIK F adapter, Manfrotto 745B video tripod w/ the old 501 fluid head, lighting stand with superclamp and attched LED flashlight.

The bugs were about 10mm long so we're talking supermacro. It's really hard to follow focus steady enough at such huge magnification, anything adds vibration. It was all shot in something like 30 minutes and edited quickly in iMovie.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One metres at 08:39am on Monday 8th May 2023 off Vancouver Street and Cleveland Avenue, standing in front of Howe Sound Inn & Brewing where I was staying for one night in Squamish, British Columbia in Canada.

Here we look across to part of Siy̓ám̓ Smánit as the Squamish First nations originally referred to it. Legend says it is a longhouse transformed to stone by Xáays, as the Transformer Brothers are known in this language.

The great cleft in the mountain's cliff-face in Squamish legend is a mark of corrosion left by the skin of Sínulhka, a giant two-headed sea serpent. In Western culture we know it as Stawamus Chief Mountain, also known as Stawamus Chief, The Chief or Squamish Chief. It is a granitic dome towering over 700 metres above the waters of Howe Sound, and one of the largest granite monoliths in the world.

SYNOPSIS ET DÉTAILS : A la mort du ""Roi des Pirates"", son trésor connu sous le nom de ""One Piece"" fut caché quelque part sur ""Grand Line"". Monkey D. Luffy rêve de retrouver ce trésor légendaire. Après avoir mangé un fruit du démon, il possède un pouvoir lui permettant de réaliser son rêve. Le but de leur voyage : dérober un minerai renfermant une énergie phénoménale capable de rivaliser avec la puissance des armes antiques. Luffy et son équipage naviguent sur les mers à la recherche du légendaire trésor ""One Piece"" et doivent faire face à de nombreux pirates. Le plus dangereux d’entre eux, Shiki le Lion d’or, passé pour mort, réapparait vingt ans après avoir disparu, déterminé à prendre sa revanche. Dans sa quête du One Piece, l’équipage au Chapeau de Paille arrive sur Grantesoro, capitale mondiale du divertissement, où les hommes fortunés viennent jouer au casino et assister aux spectacles les plus grandioses. Luffy et son équipage s’apprêtent à participer au plus grand rassemblement des pirates du monde entier : Le PIRATE FEST, organisé par le machiavélique Buena Festa.
