Coconut found on the pebbles of the black sand beach
The poor coconut must have been washed onto the beach by a violent wave.
I brought it home, put it in a basin with a little water and little by little it grew roots.
I brought it back to the seaside yesterday and planted it in the ground, in the shade.
I will come back regularly to see if it is growing well.
These little fibreglass yellow taxis are common sights within central Havana. Their name of course is derived from their shape which is seemingly similar to a coconut (the Spanish word for coconut being coco). A quick search online shows that both the UK and Canadian governments advise is don't use these taxis. Having seen them close up and noted the state of their worn tyres and wonky suspension I am not surprised.
This particular scene is yet another early morning view taken outside the Capitolio Building. The humble but much more reliable VW Beetle is being passed at pace.

Coco, our 12 week old Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy, runs across her English country garden during a warm and sunny winter's day.
This is the only snowy photoshoot I made, and probably will make this year, because the snow lasted like two weeks and ever since it's been getting only warmer... I just checked and I haven't uploaded any winter photos on flickr for like three years! It reminds me of how I take lots of photos that I never upload here - I made at least twenty photoshoots that nobody, except for me, is going to see now that my photography skills have improved and I no longer like them... My winter break has just started, so I hope to spend some time editing recent pics and - if the weather gets a little better - taking some new ones. It might be a problem as I - for like the first time ever - also need to study for during my winter break... I passed to the final stage of an English competition I told you about some time ago (I think), which is great, but means more studying and less free time...

I made the skirt and the headband myself (as well as the rest of the outfit) very recently, I kinda missed sewing... The sweater was knitted like three years ago by my mom - another thing I somehow never got around to showing you. The sleigh is a new find, I really love it :)

Sorry for the babbling, but I never have time to write something here and now that I had a sec I remembered everyting I wanted to tell you at once ;) Have a nice week everybody!
Photo by Ed. Taken with the Great Wall and a home made lens. Film was Fujifilm Superia 400. Late last week I did a shoot for the band, Coco Rosie, which Jim Green steered in my direction after he realised he would be away on holiday and therefore unavailable. It was for Rant Magazine in Manchester. The editor, Irene, told me she wanted something, 'nostalgic and beautiful' to fit in with the band's music so I took along the GW and the blurry lens. The whole film came out really well, but here's the one that caught my eye initially. More will definitely follow.
He's two years old and, for some reason, his owner gave him up. I bought him and his cage as a package deal and... brought home a new noisemaker.
(I had to talk to my hubby while he was on a bus, between Heathrow and Gatwick, to get permission. But, yeah! He said yes... as long as it is the last bird. (:
His name was "coco," but he's pretty silly, so I'm calling him "Coco-Bean."

This is Coco, the Australian koala in his stay at Pairi Daiza animal park. Koalas can sleep up to twenty hours a day and when they finally wake up they eat half a kilogram of eucalyptus leaves a day. However, the leaves provide little energy, so to digest everything properly, they have to sleep all day again.

She is my ever present model. When I need to test a lens or try something out, Coco is always there for me. Sometimes she is a bit shy and looks away, but other times she will stare me down.
She is such a sweet little cat.
And I love what this lens did with the blanket and pillow to the right of her. This lens is always surprising me with how good it renders the out of focus areas.

This is Coco, the resident kitten of the lovely place we stayed at in Corsica last year. She must have only been a few weeks old but was utterly fearless and incredibly playful!
Happy Furry Friday everyone.
This weeks Macro Monday theme - Defining beauty + quote.
Below are three quotes attributed to Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel (1873-1971), one containing the word beauty, in line with the theme, the other two without -
"Adornment, what a science! Beauty, what a weapon! Modesty, what elegance!"
"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."
"Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. Life shapes the face you have at thirty. But at fifty you get the face you deserve."
