This is my favourtie new kitchen tool for opening fresh coconuts. It concists of a circular stainless steel blade and a stout yellow mallet. You place the round blade on top of the fresh coconut and hammer away until you punch through.
To give some context to my submission to the Macro Monday theme "Lost/Found".

A few weeks ago my husband saw me using a powered garden saw to open a coconut in the sink and thought I would was going to lose some fingers for sure. He insisted I use a safer method.
FOUND
I found this tool called Coco Jack on the internet, and have been eating more fresh coconuts than ever since it arrived.
A walk in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve today, a less privileged neighborhood of the city. This is Coco, whom I met on Ontario Street. He has a leg infection that doesn't cure. This week he had a 12th operation on it and is carrying an antibiotic injection pump to control the infection.
