Clover Field - Photo by Larry Brown

Clover or trefoil are common names for plants of the genus Trifolium (Latin, tres "three" + folium "leaf"), consisting of about 300 species of flowering plants in the legume or pea family Fabaceae. The genus has a cosmopolitan distribution with highest diversity in the temperate Northern Hemisphere, but many species also occur in South America and Africa, including at high altitudes on mountains in the tropics. They are small annual, biennial, or short-lived perennial herbaceous plants. Clover can be evergreen. The leaves are trifoliate (rarely quatrefoiled; see four-leaf clover), cinquefoil, or septfoil, with stipules adnate to the leaf-stalk, and heads or dense spikes of small red, purple, white, or yellow flowers; the small, few-seeded pods are enclosed in the calyx. Other closely related genera often called clovers include Melilotus (sweet clover) and Medicago (alfalfa or Calvary clover).

Owl Clover along the Bush Highway, Arizona.

This clover flower reminded me of Raspberry ripple ice cream. The almost hidden weevil obviously couldn't get enough of it :-)

PETER:

Look Oleg....I picked clover for my princess Rosie and my best friend Scout!

OLEG:

Oh...well...eh...a very good idea and very sweet of you Peter.

But...why are they in one of your shoes?

PETER:

I couldn't find a vase for the flowers, so I put them in a shoe. And I filled the shoe with water, so they stay beautiful.

OLEG:

Your kidding

PETER:

No...I'm always seri...seri...you know what I mean.

Besides, I don't have to wear shoes now, because it's summer

Then I always walk barefoot..paws.

OLEG

I understand

And now it's time for a cup of tea with a piece of cake.

PETER:

Yeeehhhhhh

Another roadside attraction. When the mailbox helps steady my hand.

For the best view experience, highly recommended to watch the photos in lightbox and fullscreen. Looks better in lightbox (press "L" key) or just push toggle slideshow button on photostream. Thanks.

This is the first time I have ever seen a clover this color. This was captured at the Fennville Poppy Field.

Thanks for views, comments and favs :)

Hildegard is grazing on clover in the farmyard, a favorite snack of hers. She can eat and eat, and eventually I have to put her back into the goat enclosure, so she can lay down and digest a bit.

Is a old shot....maybe the first...I want see it with new eyes and you?

My grandparents lived just down the road from here and every summer I'd visit them for about 3 weeks. I would come this this area to play all the time. It was nice to go back and reflect on the good old days.

Turns out catadioptric lenses can have great bokeh under the right conditions — even if you're not into the donut bokeh. I made this with a Tamron SP 500 mirror lens. And I like the Monet quality to its rendering here.
