"And though you have forgotten
All of our rubbish dreams
I find myself searching
Through the ashes of our ruins
For the days when we smiled
And the hours that ran wild
With the magic of our eyes
And the silence of our words
And sometimes I wonder
Just for a while
Will you ever remember me"
Tim Buckley
One of the motley crew photographing the fog filled valley. This image shows how thick the fog was. This is a deeply incised valley, known as "The Valley of 1000 hills"
The fog had filled the valley floor and was continuous rolling over the tops of the rounded peaks, occasionally revealing trees and other structures before just as quickly rolling over and engulfing them again.
It started off around 2 C.
At home today around 30 minutes ago, this is actually the 3rd one I have seen in 2 days, must be chilly up there.
On a recent trip to Rockport, Texas, I was pleasantly surprised to find that on the one day I was there I was fortunate enough to catch a very colorful sunrise! This shot is of the Rockport Beach State Park. I geo-tagged this photo and plan to begin doing so on future images although using that feature is a real battery hog.
This is a reworked version of a picture I posted last year. I was on my laptop and ran across the orginal, and went to work editing it, having totally forgotten I'd posted it before. Decided to check if I had posted it and searched by date taken. Sure enough, of the pictures I took that evening, both times I liked this shot better than the others, but was surprised how different the two shots look. I began reading the comments and laughed when I read my reply comment to Patricia Meyer. I've included that comment below. What a difference a year can make.
over a year ago:
"Patricia Meyer... thank you. One of the things I really love about my camera is the IQ, I rarely do anything once I take the picture. Once in awhile I may crop a bit, or with Flickr's edit options, I may adjust contrast, exposure, or use the saturation control to convert to B&W. One of these days I'll get a new laptop and start shooting in RAW and play around with Photoshop or Lightroom, but for now I'm pretty happy with the JPEG's."
Here's a link to the earlier picture.
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”—Rachel Carson. The Mission Mountains reflect off calm waters in the Ninepipe Reservoir at the Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge in Charlo, Montana.
A fallstreak hole, also known as a 'hole-punch cloud' or - even better - a 'skypunch', happens when part of the cloud layer forms ice-crystals which are large enough to fall, revealing a hole in the cloud.
After weeks of solid overcast skies, Mother Nature decided the sunset on the day before the first official day of winter should be something special. Hope it's a good omen! Photographed over the backwaters of the Mississippi River in La Crosse County, Wisconsin.
I left the beach while the sky was still performing, almost laughing at my inability to deal with it. While ascending the path back to the car, I did look back and couldn't resist one last shot of a sky that had been too much, too showy. Funnily enough I like this one without reflected sand as it gets rid of the giant flying X!!!
