I suspect this low white cloud is actually fog that was lifted by localized winds. On the horizon, the darker cloud is probably ground fog resulting from sublimation of the cold snow cover.
Its formation occurred from nothing in a matter of a half minute.

"Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep."
— William Shakespeare (The Tempest)

Part of a wheat field in the Yorkshire Wolds, near Huggate, East Yorkshire, England. Pure blue skies punctuated by fluffy white clouds when I took this photo. Taken on 35mm Fujichrome Neopan Acros 100 black and white negative film using a Nikon FM2 35mm SLR and a Nikkor 50mm f/2 Ais standard lens. I used both a circular polariser and an orange filter to punch up the contrast in the cloudscape. The film was processed at rated speed in Ilfotec Dev, digitised using a Plustek 8200i film scanner and split toned using LR6.

The sea was behind me as I looked inland at the beach to capture this wonderful diagonal line of clouds
