I've been waiting literally a long time in 2020 for cumulus clouds to appear. When I finally seen them for the first time of the year, they were not the most dramatic forms that I've ever seen but beautiful regardless of the fact. Cloud development is a good opportunity to create a project, whether it's a collage of photos taken at various time intervals to show cloud evolution over time, or (for example), long exposure. Summertime storms can be a little exciting here in Michigan, but rarely if ever make for a particularly eventful weather day. Despite what others might think, setting the CPL to the most extreme setting is personally positive to me; the stark contrast between tones is aesthetically pleasing to me and that is my type of style.
During my bicycle commuter trip home I witnessed these cloud formations. Luckily I had my small compact camera with me this time.
(At the moment I am busy processing hundreds of wedding images. I will post some, if the couple is oke with that.)
Taken at noon, these altocumulus lenticular clouds have persisted all morning over southeast Wyoming. Although surface winds were light, a high wind warning has been in effect since 9AM. Winds are expected to increase later to 35-50 mph with gusts to 70 mph. The impact of a low to mid-level jet stream is expected to mix winds down to the surface. These clouds suggest high surface winds will be arriving soon enough.

the last three cloud images that you see were all taken within five seconds of each other and processed differently in photo shop...
clouds provide a great base to practice processing techniques..

I needed to stop to tighten the strap holding the kayak to the roof and this is what I saw across the road.
If you constantly gaze up at the sky the clouds look like all sorts of things. Amazingly these clouds are pretty well............ erm cloud shaped.
Not my ideal weather for a Saturday on the Eastern Shore. Pretty windy and a clouded out sunrise. Beautiful cloudscapes for the rest of the day though and with the wind... and most of the wild raptors hiding out for the day, not much else to do but pull out the ol' 10-stop.
