I suspect this low white cloud is actually fog that was lifted by localized winds. On the horizon, the darker cloud is probably ground fog resulting from sublimation of the cold snow cover.
Its formation occurred from nothing in a matter of a half minute.

"Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep."
— William Shakespeare (The Tempest)

There's no question we dodged a huge bullet here in the Baltimore area. Ocean City on the coast got hit really bad and they've gotten 2 feet of wet snow out in Garrett County. I really think that the huge destruction here from the derecho this summer ended up sparing us this go around. All the weak trees & limbs had already fallen down. I'm really looking forward to seeing some blue sky later this week.
The sea was behind me as I looked inland at the beach to capture this wonderful diagonal line of clouds
Big storm cloud over North Idaho's Rathdrum mountain.
Taken from my den window, looking NE.

I grabbed a quick panorama while teaching at Whitby on Monday. The group were blessed with a really stunning sunrise and the colours away from the direction of the sun were so soft and gentle with wonderful shapes in the clouds.
I have made a panorama of the sun rise over the piers, but to be honest, I am finding the really bright colours a bit garish and prefer the tones in image such as this. It is also much easier to control the contrast when pointing the camera away from the rising sun itself.
