"An expanse that appears to stretch forever.
We can perceive the edge of the earth.
Some call it flatland, others call it home.
Above this world spreads a celestial sphere.
Enclosed in this sphere we gaze skyward.
Observing clouds of crystals floating above.
Looking for shapes identified in our minds.
Appearing with the sunrise, floating all day.
Figures that bring some meaning to life."

This bright, beautiful winter image is all about the clouds for me. Being a bit higher than the scene gave a unique perspective on a gorgeous sky. This is a four vertical image panorama, a technique I often use to give a more natural crop in the end. The Sigma packed loads of detail into this image even at f/2.8, and that detail is strong across the image frame. It was incredibly cold when I shot this, but that cold produces a very crisp beauty that translates well into a photograph. Enjoy this cloudscape, whatever your weather is today.
Technical info: Canon EOS 6D, Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (Use Code "dustinabbott" to get 10% anything and everything)

Captured this evening cloudscape on the West end of Pensacola Beach, Florida as the sun was setting. Used the Sony A7RII (1/20 sec at f/22, ISO 50) with the Sony FE 16-35mm F4 ZA OSS on a tripod.
Good weather clouds...one huge one, building over the gums where we walk near the house...storms will come more and more now as we get closer to Winter
July 17, 2010 - Kearney Nebraska US
Mid July in Kearney Nebraska....
Lots of fun things to do in Nebraska during the summer months. In the city of Kearney we have an annual "Classic Car Show" were thousands of fans of this come to the city to view this annual special event. This day was extremely hot and humid. That afternoon we had temps into the 100's.
Just trying to get in position for this on coming storm. Normal traffic would have been 15 mins to get to the north of the city. Took over an hour that night to get to my location for this shoot.
I have to be honest and say I was not the best at taking night photos with my Nikon D50 back then. I didn't understand the process yet as I was still learning. Though this set of images you can get the depth of this beast thunderstorm as it rolled through south central Nebraska.
One thing to note about this storm. There was basically no wind before the storm hit. One of those creepy moments where these clouds were just hovering and moving slowly to the east. Once it hit though we had 80+ mph sustained winds with gusts over 100 mph that were recorded Simply this was a nasty bugger!
100% Outflow Dominate. Normal for mid July to have this type of storm. Nice definition to this with some crystal clear air, I could see the approaching shelf cloud for miles and miles! Didn't have to chase this one...as it came to me! Got the cams out and went to town... Click Click Click!
Some incredible Nebraska Thunderstorm Eye Candy from 2010!

This waterfalls played hide and seek with us for 3 days!
We finally saw this on the day we were leaving when fog cleared for 15-20 mins. Lucky in deed
Darkroom Prints on some old paper I want to, use up. The land back of the Brentwood BT Building I used a YELLOW filter
The Prairies have the most magnificent clouds during the summer months. On this day there were numerous isolated downpours, one of which can be seen just off to the right. A hint of rainbow can be seen along the horizon.
I hiked some distance into a muddy field in order to get this photo. I'm glad I got at least one good one -- my boots were caked with clumps of mud and straw the size of small watermelons by the time I got back to the road! Good old Manitoba gumbo...
