birdwatchers & cloudwatchers -- Similarites........
someone told me recently of how there are a group of folks that keep an eye out for all manner and different types of clouds - and record sightings/photo doc them, etc .... in similar manner of the habits of some birdwatchers
...interesting ...
occasionally i will take the time to photo doc. some that catch my eye.
As do many, i find it fascinating how the differences in light and even slight movements in the atmosphere may keep one attentive to the show - especially at dawn & dusk
I took this quite a few days ago, the same night I took this one, but 15 minutes earlier.
Canon 40D | 17-40mm f/4L | 1/5 sec | f/11 | ISO 100 | .6 GND
Another amazing sunset - I watched it and took this photo from my front steps.

"An expanse that appears to stretch forever.
We can perceive the edge of the earth.
Some call it flatland, others call it home.
Above this world spreads a celestial sphere.
Enclosed in this sphere we gaze skyward.
Observing clouds of crystals floating above.
Looking for shapes identified in our minds.
Appearing with the sunrise, floating all day.
Figures that bring some meaning to life."

This bright, beautiful winter image is all about the clouds for me. Being a bit higher than the scene gave a unique perspective on a gorgeous sky. This is a four vertical image panorama, a technique I often use to give a more natural crop in the end. The Sigma packed loads of detail into this image even at f/2.8, and that detail is strong across the image frame. It was incredibly cold when I shot this, but that cold produces a very crisp beauty that translates well into a photograph. Enjoy this cloudscape, whatever your weather is today.
Technical info: Canon EOS 6D, Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (Use Code "dustinabbott" to get 10% anything and everything)
