Taken during the morning of June 9th with Nikon P950 (temperature 43F with winds NW 30G40 mph). After receiving 0.90" over night with min temperature of 37F and wind chill of 23F (yes it is still early June), these altostratus translucidus undulatus duplicatus and stratocumulus stratiformis opacus, lenticularis appeared.
I think I got these cloud types ID correctly?
Picture of the Day x 2
Unusual to see even shallow convection on the 1st full day of winter. An active cold front is expected to drop the average temperature 30F by tomorrow with wind chills in the minus single digits. Temperature was 55F at time of this shot and the high tomorrow isn't expected above 25F.
Taken 19 Dec. Winds within the overcast clouds (left) were associated with winds 40mph gusts to 55 mph.
Odd cloud formation occurring with surface winds of 30 to 50 mph. No contrails were visible. I suspect this is a variant of cirrus vertebratus.

There are some views that are just begging to be photogrphed. Places where you'd like to just wander off, wild camp, and spend days exploring. Unfortunately you don't have the time and have to settle for a couple of shots from the roadside.
