Oh those blue skies are very nice
but if you stop to think twice,
by clouds they are enhanced
and they keep us all entranced.
When fascination takes root
photographs we must shoot,
and with camera in hand
we will wander the land.
When we start to obsess
of cloudscapes to possess,
life takes on a new meaning
and there’s no time for cleaning!
The weather may be foul or fair
but there’ll still be clouds up there,
and we can take photo’s galore
then stop, to take just one more.
Of our collections we are proud
especially that elusive cloud,
and to catch an optical effect
can really make our day perfect.

Saw these on the trailing edge of a severe thunderstorm that came through the area. Deliberately didn't crop the foreground so as to give size perspective.
Clouds over Liberty Station restaurant. This used to be an actual train station now it the best restaurant in Bedford Va. Inside is themed like an old train station. This is the station the my great uncle left out of leaving for duty in world war 2. He was one of the Bedford Boys killed on DDay. Bedford suffered more per capitia than any where in the nation. That is why we have the National DDay Memorial.
I don't know what kind of clouds these are that I shot on yesterday morning's walk, but they presaged much needed rain.
EDIT: Someone in the Cloud Appreciation Society on Facebook says these are altocumulus with perhaps some mammatus in the lower right.

A still from a timelapse I just posted, slightly cropped and tonemapped to bring out the details in the ripples of the clouds. This is a "fairly uncommon phenomenon" called cloud iridescence. I think it's much more common than wikipedia states. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_iridescence
