The afternoon sun hides behind clouds. Photo taken in spring 2014.
Admittedly, this image has undergone some "reality enhancement" in Lightroom and Photoshop, but I think that this version better describes my memory of that moment than the original photo.
The high dynamic range of the Nikon D800 made it possible to enhance the shady regions, which otherwise would have been only a silhouette. The difference between the sky and the building is about 5 f-stops, which traditionally would have required HDR and tonal mapping.
The sun rays, which I remember vividly, were barely visible in the original photo, so I enhanced them in Photoshop using a radial blur on a separate layer.
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
― Haruki Murakami
My first ever "cloudscape" I never seem to have my camera on me at the right time but there's some cracking Cumulus clouds been building all afternoon so I think I might venture out and see they light up opposite tonights setting sun
Although I over processed, just the formation of the cloud is just eerie. I'm not sure what to make of it.
I've been getting a lot of great shots fro them sky lately - This was when I was in Indy.
Explored, July 19th! Awesome!! Thanks everyone ;-)

7th visit to Raigad on Shivarajyabhishek din (Coranation anniversary of King Shivaji)
We get some crazy clouds in
Northern Nevada. Sorry they were taken from my backyard and not a more pleasing setting
This was supposed to be an aurora-watching session on a beach near Narvik, but, after a hint of clearing, the cloud and snow moved in again.
Most of the light in this long exposure is from Narvik, but I've used a tungsten light balance so it looks more natural. The blue light at lower left is from a fellow traveller's LED headtorch.
I was on my way out to do errands this afternoon when I saw the sky over Lake Tahoe. I had to go back to get my camera and try to capture some of the dramatic thunderheads that were developing all around the lake. This view is to the southeast toward Heavenly Valley ski resort and Nevada. A bit of snow remains on the tops of the highest peaks in the middle of July.
