Cloud is an Arabian gelding available for adoption from Horse Rescue United. He had a BIG day today- he rode in the Assunpink for the first time and we did a short photo session. This horse has such a nice mind. He loaded and unloaded from the trailer like a pro, and stood quietly while he was tacked up and braided. For those who are unfamiliar with the Assunpink, there are some open fields and dirt roads by the parking lot. He was all by himself with no other horses, and he handled the whole ride really well, under the expert guidance of Christina Henderson. He saw a rabbit, heard the hounds at the hunt club, and saw cars driving past the park, and took it all in stride. Nothing spooked him, and he kept a flat-footed walk to and from the trailer- it was a very new experience for him, and he was tense but he was willing and honest. Christina reports that he has some nice education under saddle. He has a soft mouth, balances himself naturally up and down hills, understands lateral cues, and readily responds to leg and seat. He's very handsome! I can picture him being just as dapper under western tack as in an English saddle and bridle. He takes up a lot of leg and is surefooted over rocks and up and down hills. For those who remember him from last year, he was named "Bugsy" and was part of a neglect case in Atlantic County. You can contact the rescue for more information. If you're not ready to adopt, there are many volunteer positions available at HRU, from day-to-day care like feeding to assistance with fundraisers. Contact www.horserescueunited.org/

Gin martini. All others are imposters. (Shaken, but I don't have an opinion on the shaken v. stirred debate.)

The Cloud 9 Revolving Restaurant & Lounge has been a landmark of Downtown Vancouver since November 1973. The restaurant is fully renovated and on the 42nd floor of The Empire Landmark Hotel (formerly the Sheraton Landmark), one of the tallest hotels in Vancouver.
Step off the elevator onto the 42nd floor into the Cloud 9 Revolving Restaurant & Lounge, and you are greeted with a spectacular view of Vancouver. The 20 feet high windows allow guests to be treated to the unobstructed 360 degree view of the majestic setting of mountains, harbour, the Strait of Georgia and the city itself as the restaurant revolves. A kaleidoscope of vibrant lights covers the walls and ceilings at every turn giving a lively look and feel even on the dullest rainy Vancouver day. Once night falls, the fiber optic lighting from the ceiling gives the impression of stars in the sky. A large mural depicting the Constellations on the upper interior wall ties the entire design of Cloud 9 together. The menu offers a wide variety of regional specialties and signature dishes of the restaurant. The restaurant is locally renowned as a venue for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, graduation parties, corporate celebrations as well as small private wedding receptions.
With the added bonus of my thumb over the lens!! I had to get creative (okay not the thumb part) to take a cloud photo, because it was just solid grey up there. Still raining!

I'd only met Cloud Nine a few weeks before when I was delivering another yacht. Having been asked to share my local knowledge by joining them for a trip up the Turkish coast politeness insisted I got to know them by whatever means.
Had a short photo shoot with my sister Pia yesterday. This picture was actually just a test shot for my very first levitation picture.
Muito muito muito lindo este esmalte!! Ele é aquilo tudo que a gente escuta falar meeesmo, minha máquina que não está lá estas coisas e não mostra direito.

Devil's Island (Ile du Salut) taken from Ile Royale, the main island of this little group. . Papillon's prison island but the reality is far from the book or film. There is also a third island (Ile St Joseph).
Maybe foolishly we took the zodiac 6nm to the mainland to visit Cayenne and the Arianne Space Centre. The sharks and strong currents in this strait were the deterrent for escaping prisoners.
Thursday, on the way from the launch ramp to Toledo. Brian Gage's power garvey, Cloud Nine, was built from the Al Mason's Lily Pad plans.
Found these 3 guys and thought I would keep them company

The Boardwalk at Cloud Nine, 5:30 am at sunrise. Surfers use this elevated walkway above the prickly seafloor to get to the surf break. The real hardcore surfers never use the boardwalk. Nah, just kidding; everyone, pro or green, uses the Boardwalk. And the two-floor hut at the end ain’t half-bad to lounge in either; there’s even a hammock to spend a good afternoon reading and watching surfers getting their just desserts.
