Travel has always played an important role in my life. When experiencing especially difficult times, travel and nature both allow me to recenter myself, helping me to recognize how big and beautiful the world is. My dad passed away rather suddenly in October 2021, so the January 2022 trip to Ecuador was an opportunity for me to explore a new culture and ecosystem while reconnecting with myself. My love for nature came from my dad, and this view at the top of the cloud forest took my breath away and made me feel connected to him. Not to mention, as an ecologist, learning about the flora and fauna (especially birds) was exciting!
