This tree actually secrets a liquid that looks like blood when it is chopped. The liquid is used by locals as an anti-inflammatory/itching agent.

Lemon-Rumped (black and yellow birds) and Blue-Grey Tanagers feeding on bananas. The owner of the garden said he puts out one hundred bananas a day to keep the birds coming.
