Still above the cloudbase, by the way, the temperature was around freezing... My arm is still frozen ;-)

Long-ish (30sec) exposure of Edinburgh, viewed from Downing Point, Dalgety Bay. It's amazing just how much edinburgh lights up the sky like this when there's a low cloudbase. I'd gone out hoping to see some meteors, but the overcast sky and this lot soon put paid to that plan.
This is just a wee basic-quality JPEG straight out the camera (I was shooting RAW+JPEG).

Positioned where we are, surrounding us are swarms of mosquito's, you dart in and out of the van to avoid being eaten alive!
In the background you can see the supercell's 'anvil' through the lower cloudbase.

So, ages back, I finished the main crew of Cloudbase on my mission to complete the Captain Scarlet action figure line-up by Vivid imaginations in the 90's.
But I wasn't finished...enter the Mysteron Captains!
These, for those who don't know, are those unlucky folks who are quite rare, a new colour coded Captain instantly nominated the Redshirt position in a Captain Scarlet story, offed by the Mysterons not long after the credits roll.
Here, we have Captain Brown, killed in the pilot episode, "The Mysterons", on his first assignment for Spectrum in a car crash over a ravine. Later, he was quite memorably retrometabolised.
Made by myself here using a Captain Scarlet as a base, some brown paint, and a couple of the usual touch-ups on his hat and jacket.
A fierce cold-front came over, with a great thunderstorm. Taking pictures was only posible when the front was passed by. But then the problem was the very low cloudbase. This picture ended up as the only acceptable of the lightning.
Despite the lousy weather (low cloudbase, wind, rain) we made it from Montargis to Chartres and back in 5 hours. This was only possible because we had the Lamborghini of the gliderverse and Ralphs extraordinary soaring skills.

The conditions here for the returning up Dalesman, 1Z34, were even worse than for the down train. The cloudbase had dropped again and with the wind gusting up to 40 mph, the rain was almost horizontal.
35018 comes off the viaduct and eases through the up platform of the beautifully kept station at Ribblehead. It's pretty much downhill all the way to Hellifield from here.

West Oxfordshire, England.
My job involves a fair bit of flying, so during a particularly turbulent flight around Oxfordshire I took some photos. We were popping in and out of the cloudbase and the sun kept appearing and disappearing. You can see the results of some recent flooding down in the fields which, every now and again, resulted in some great reflections.

What looked like a rubbish day in the resort, actually turned out to be a briliant day once on the slopes and above the clouds.

June 22, 2014 - Kearney Nebraska US
It was late & close to midnight. I went out about an hour before the storm was supposed visit our area. Storm slowed way down but was producing some nice ambient lighting against the lower cloudbase.
So I decided to stick around & see what was going to happen.
I wasn't going to be disappointed.
