Close-up portrait of Argent on the chair in the bedroom, hoping we won't give her medicine in the morning. Her hopes were dashed when she got her usual medicine...

Log cabin variations: close up 1 of swatch printed by Spoonflower on basic combed cotton. Faux quilting in light and dark shades of teal and red, with double stitching, and in various patterns (fabric and wallpaper). Created from a set of original chalk on paper designs. © Su Schaefer 2013

Color check: the threads in the picture are Gutermann polyester Col. 690 (teal) and 46 (dark red). I've increased the scale of the designs by about a third since these swatches were printed (size can be changed, message me any specific requirement).

The variations are:

The new Nikon AF-S 28/1.8G masters shots at closer focusing distances with ease - if you stop down a bit (here f5.6). Shot on a D800, developed from RAW in Ligtroom 4 with Adobe standard rpofile. Sharpening at 70/0.5/36/10.

See my review at Camera Labs.

The medieval statue was destroyed in the iconoclasm of the Reformation, in 1538, in Chelsea. The current one is a modern reconstruction.

"The statue is not remarkable in itself but the sincere attempt to recreate the form of the old statue when the only available evidence came from circular pilgrim medallion is praiseworthy, and the result is pleasing and devotional.

It is a thought-provoking statue with theological implications so typical of the Middle Ages. The Child seems to dominate. It is not so much a statue of the Mother with the Child as a statue of the Child with the Mother in the background. The Child holds the Book of Gospels with one hand and with the other seems to shield his Mother from attack."

Another example of the fibrous serpentine mineral, chrysotile, shown attached to host rock; located at an abandoned asbestos mine in northern Vermont, U.S. Image shows an occurrence of exposed chrysotile ore as it naturally appears in certain types of geological deposits and also demonstrates weathered characteristics. American five-cent coin (nickel) show for scale.

Mixing textures and materials recently. As much as I liked the idea in my head, too much leather quickly descends into dominatrix territory. Which, yeah, okay, I might still get around to eventually.

Decided to try some tighter shots on the motorcycle riders on Palomar Mountain this weekend. I was pretty happy with the results.

Here is an area where I used both micro beads and sand for grout. It's different using a mix of sand and glue for grout. Does the job though.

One of the birds that was at the renaissance festival in a show, a red tail hawk. I got this nice profile of the bird. If you look hard you can see the reflection in the eye.

Do not under estimate this drivetrain. It may be inexpensive, but probably shifts better than any bike made 15 years ago! Mountain bike gears give you a nice wide range of gears.
