(questa per me è tra le canzoni più tristi, più intense, più belle, più...

non mi stanco mai di ascoltarla)

Never win and never lose

There's nothing much to choose

Between the right and wrong

Nothing lost and nothing gained

Still things aren't quite the same

Between you and me

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I still hear your voice at night

When I turn out the light

And try to settle down

But there's nothing much I can do

Because I can't live without you

Any way at all

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

Closing 2011... :))

From my window in Lisbon.

Pride prevents others from approaching us, while prejudice hinders our ability to approach others.

It's closing in...

Regulars get tired of the following daily message, but if I remove it, then I keep getting the same kinda emails: This is from My Tutorial right here - I have over 16,500 unread emails - sorry but I am too swamped - but most of you ask for that tutorial, so there it is! :)

THE TALE

It’s a cold morning in Edinburgh, as Sir George Lockhart (the city’s President of the Court of Session) walks up his narrow close, out onto the Royal Mile and down to St Giles’ High Kirk. It is March 31, 1689 – Easter Sunday. On his walk home after the service, a strange man Sir George recognises but can’t quite place tips his hat and salutes him. Lockhart has the distinct feeling he is being followed. He looks back – nothing. He opens the gate to his close and locks it securely behind him. The gate creaks open and he turns to look, but sees only shadows.

He keeps walking and hears footsteps. As Lockhart increases his pace, the footsteps quicken too, gaining fast. He reaches the front door, fumbles inside his pocket, finds the key and puts it into the lock. The key turns and clicks, followed by an enormous bang. “I have killed the judge! I have taught him justice!” The judge dies moments later on his own bed. Out on the street, the murderer doesn’t even try to run. He shows his pistol to those who want to look and boasts his crime to those who want to listen: ‘I have killed the judge! I have taught him justice!’ The murderer’s name is John Chiesly – a landowner in Dalry, a hamlet near Edinburgh.

A few months before the crime took place, Lockhart had resolved a divorce request from Chiesly in his wife’s favour. “Chiesly’s body mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again” Chiesly was sentenced to pay the equivalent of £93 a year (an enormous amount of money at the time) for the upkeep of his wife and their 11 children. After the ruling, Chiesly vowed to kill the judge unless the sentence was rectified. It wasn’t, and Chiesly kept his word. Now the man faced an angry jury, who sentenced him to be tortured in prison and executed in public at Edinburgh’s Mercat Cross. The torture included the use of thumbscrews to crush his fingers, and booties to break his legs.

The arm with which the crime had been committed was severed while the man was still alive and displayed before him as he was hanged. Once dead, his body was to be taken to the city gallows, where it would be displayed until rotten. Just three days later, though, Chiesly’s body mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again. From then on, legend has it that the ghost of John Chiesly (missing one arm and dragging his broken limbs) chased those who dared venture into one of Edinburgh’s closes at night for the next hundred years. The reports of sightings only stopped when his skeleton was found behind a hearthstone in a house in Dalry.

Having not been to Hill Close for a couple of years, there have been a number of improvements both to the garden plots and the summerhouses. New stained-glass windows have been added to this summerhouse.

It is so hard to believe that it's been over 5 months since this particular visit to Elk Island... A lovely evening, that ended with a storm hitting the park. As always, before the rain, there was about a million of bugs flying all over and you can definitely see them on most of the pictures I have taken that day... All in all, I wouldn't mind the bugs, if it was still green and warm around ;D
