St. Mellion Golf Club's 2013 Mens Captain's Day hosted by this year's captain Andrew Corfield. A full entry with five hours of tee times kept Andrew extremely busy. And to keep all those golfers going Beth & Hannah were on hand to dish out free drinks and snacks at the Halfway House. Some glorious sunny weather rounded the day off perfectly. Nice one Andrew.

Varkala is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. These tertiary sedimentary formation cliffs are a unique geological feature on the otherwise flat Kerala coast, and is known among geologists as Varkala Formation and a geological monument as declared by the Geological Survey of India.

The Cliff Swallow (Petrochelidon pyrrhonota) is a member of the passerine bird family Hirundinidae — the swallows and martins.

It breeds in North America and Mexico, and is migratory, wintering in western South America from Venezuela southwards to northeast Argentina. This species is a very rare vagrant to western Europe.

This bird averages 13 cm (5 inches) long with a tiny bill. The adult has an iridescent blue back and crown, brown wings and tail, and buff rump. The nape and forehead are white. The underparts are white except for a red face. The tail is square-ended.

Young birds are essentially brown above and whitish below, except for the buff rump and dark face.

The only confusion species is the closely related Cave Swallow, which is richer in colour and has a cinnamon rump and forehead.

What a cloudy dreary day looks like in Central Oregon! a nice day for a 5 mile hike.

Taken on a trip to Three Cliffs some time ago with Emma, Andrew, Troy and Leighton.

This is a reminder to everyone to back up your pictures. I had a backup plan, but didn't execute it on my Ireland trip in May. I put everything on an external hard drive and lost it all when it mysteriously died two days after getting back home. Even the professionals couldn't recover it.

I did have the first and last day of the trip still on my CF card and discovered this gem there.

If you don't have a backup plan, get one, now. If you do. Back up tonight!

Hard to believe that this tranquil scene once hosted a fire that burned for three years!
