This photo was taken at Amundsen-Scott South POle Station during the 2014 Winter season.
The building in the image is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Atmospheric Research Observatory (ARO). ARO specifically looks at climate constituents over long periods of time and samples the cleanest air in the world. Nothing is upwind of this building for hundreds of miles and no one is allowed behind the building. Specifically the building houses instruments that measure CO2, aerosols, UV radiation, ozone depleting substances like CFCs and ozone throughout the atmosphere.
this shot taken at ISO 8000 So really testing the capabilities of the R7 not the cleanest shot in world but pretty good result considering the light i was shooting in. was lucky to get this close to the owl.
ENG: Summer holiday impressions. ☻
What a fantastic view of the boathouse on the Alpsee. Here we started our pedal boat tour across the lake to enjoy the beautiful view of the Alps and castles.
The Alpsee is an 88 hectare lake in Bavaria in the Ostallgäu district. It has a circumference of 4.70 km and belongs to the municipality of Schwangau. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the royal castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein directly at the foot of the Säuling mountain. Two kilometres northwest of the lake is the town of Füssen, 450 metres further south is the border with Austria. 400 metres north of the lake lies the smaller Schwansee. The lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Germany and is used in summer as a bathing lake in a specially created bathing facility (Alpseebad, on the south shore). There is also a boathouse where pedal boats and rowing boats can be hired. If it is sufficiently cold, the lake is also used for skating in winter.

from a single raw. since this was through a car windshield it isnt the cleanest picture, but ah well..!
Times Square in New York, photographed last October. Does this city inspire me? In more than one way.
Captured with Canon 5DMk3 and Canon 8-15mm f/4 fish-eye lens from the top of the city tour bus. When we stopped at the red light, I quickly snapped a few exposures in succession until I found the one with the best and cleanest composition. Say what you want, but a bus tour is still the best way to see the whole city from the ground, second only to a chopper session.
Image was 'de-fished' with the latest RAW Camera Import module in Photoshop CC 2015 which works phenomenally well. Image was then converted into BW with Silver Efex Pro 2 and fused with a colour version with selective colour correction for that Marvel Noir look which I love so much.
Amid London's ever-evolving skyline and the constant refurbishment work inside interiors across the capital, there's something reassuring about a location that, 100 years after it opened, remains almost unchanged. I last photographed the beautiful Cecil Brewer staircase inside Heal's Department Store nearly two years ago, and it had been even longer since I last captured the view looking upwards from the bottom of the spiral. Such a wide variety of compositions and finishes can be achieved by shifting the position of the camera just a few inches one way or another, or by adjusting the focal length of the lens by just a few millimetres, and the staircase's perfect geometric shape and the majestic pendant lights hanging from its ceiling mean it's always a joy to return to.
One detail I hadn't noticed during previous visits -- mostly because it's less noticeable from the top of the spiral -- is how the dozens of hanging lights are constantly swaying back and forth. As hypnotic as this was to watch, it was also challenging for this image, where I was hoping to blend multiple bracketed exposures for the cleanest possible finish. Although I was able to use luminosity masks in Photoshop to brighten the shadows along the staircase, the pendant lights contain traces of midtones as well as highlights, and as a result their constant movement -- even though this was almost imperceptible -- made it difficult for the frames to be perfectly aligned and to achieve a sharp finish. The only way to overcome this was to use a high ISO in order to keep the shutter speed fast, while at the same time holding onto a narrow aperture to ensure that the entire staircase and all of the suspended lights remained in focus.
The final result is a blend of eight exposures, with the darkest exposures for the lights and creating a natural vignette around the edge of the frame, and the brightest exposures restored along the underside of the stairs as they approach the ceiling. I liked how the moody and mysterious tone seemed to come from letting the repeating patterns be the dominant elements of the image, and for this reason I placed emphasis on the darker exposures, where the texture of the balustrade and the subtle mixture of light and shadow along each step in the staircase was best defined.
After editing out a couple of water sprinklers, as well as a small portion of the staircase in the upper-right of the frame which felt like a bit of a distraction, I used a mixture of Curves, Levels, Colour Balance, Hue/Saturation, Selective Colour and Gradient Map adjustments to shift towards a colder finish along the staircase, while using luminosity masks to retain the warmer tones inside the pendant lights. Inside Nik's Silver Efex Pro, which was set to the Luminosity blend mode so that the image would remain in colour, I gently lowered the midtone and shadow structure along the staircase in the foreground, while increasing the Soft Contrast that would help to play up each step's tonality. Finally, I added three low-opacity Colour Lookup presets -- Edgy Amber for the highlights, Foggy Night for the midtones, and Night from Day for the shadows -- and set each adjustment to Soft Light, which helped to emphasise the cold and slightly ethereal finish I'd been aiming for.
While the final result involved a lot of incremental editing to the tone and the light, I tried not to stray too far from the original details of the scene. The location is deservedly one of the most photographed staircases in London, partly because, even after a century, it looks stunning straight out of the camera.

New Years Day in The Lakes, more of the amazing light from a beautiful walk around the southern end of Derwent Water. Cold and fresh but wonderfully colourful in the forests of Manesty Park.
Not the cleanest of images as this was hand held but the light rays and where they lit of the ground was just too good to miss and getting tripods set up would certainly have meant I did miss out on a really nice colourful scene

Ruins of a medieval fortified church are located above the village of Lúčka, situated at the border of the Slovenské rudohorie mountain range and the national park of Slovenský kras. The village had been known since 1409 as part of the Turňa Castle Estate donated to Pál Besen by King Sigismund.
According to the testimony provided by the local church, however, the village dates back to at least the half of the 13th century. The church itself was built as an early-Gothic church of the Gemer style. In the first half of the 15th century, it was surrounded by a defensive stone wall with a watchtower situated in the front. The small fortress was captured by Jan Jiskra’s troopsand is commonly called the Hussite church by the locals. Only the external walls of the church and the considerably lowered defensive wall with the tower that later on served as a belfry have been preserved up to the present. The quadratic tower used to have two floors in the past, with three windows on the first floor and three loopholes on the ground floor that served to watch the surroundings and to protect the fortress from three sides: the west, the south, and the east. The top of the slope upon which the church was built provided for the natural protection from the north.
The area where the church stands counts among the ecologically cleanest territories in Slovakia. It provides for exceptionally good conditions for recreationin a peaceful natural setting and for short walks in the basin of the Čremošná, to the lake of Lúčka, as well as to the surrounding beech and fir forests. Moreover, the unique natural reserve of Zádielska dolina is located in close distance, lined with plateaux where traces of fortified prehistoric settlements were confirmed by archaeological surveys.
Whitehaven Beach is a 7 km stretch along Whitsunday Island, Australia. The island is accessible by boat from the mainland tourist ports of Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour, as well as Hamilton Island.
The beach was awarded Queensland's Cleanest Beach in Keep Australia Beautiful's 2008 Clean Beach Challenge State Awards. In July 2010, Whitehaven Beach was named the top Eco Friendly Beach in the world by CNN.com. Dogs are not permitted on the beach and cigarette smoking is prohibited.
Whitehaven Beach is known for its white sands. It has a beautiful scenery and the sand consists of 98% pure silica which gives it a bright white color. Local rocks do not contain silica so it has been suggested that the sands were brought to the beach via prevailing sea currents over millions of years.
Unlike regular sand, the sand on Whitehaven Beach does not retain heat making it comfortable to walk barefoot on a hot day. This sand is also very fine, and can damage electronic equipment such as telephones and cameras, although it is good at polishing up jewellery.
Once again, as luck would have it, I found myself at the cleanest river in Texas on the first Saturday of the month, bath day. Dolan Falls on the Devils River, Val Verde County, Texas.
Thanks to Andrés Rangel for the snap.
The Point Reyes peninsula is a well defined area, geologically separated from the rest of Marin County and almost all of the continental United States by a rift zone of the San Andreas Fault, about half of which is sunk below sea level and forms Tomales Bay. The fact that the peninsula is on a different tectonic plate than the east shore of Tomales Bay produces a difference in soils and therefore to some extent a noticeable difference in vegetation
Point Reyes National Seashore is a 71,028-acre (287.44 km2) park preserve located on the Point Reyes Peninsula in Marin County, California, USA. As a national seashore, it is maintained by the US National Park Service as a nationally important nature preserve within which some existing agricultural uses are allowed to continue. Clem Miller, a US Congressman from Marin County wrote and introduced the bill for the establishment of Point Reyes National Seashore in 1962 to protect the peninsula from residential development which was proposed at the time for the slopes above Drake's Bay. The mix of commercial and recreational uses was the reason the area was designated a National Seashore rather than a National Park. All of the park's beaches were listed as the cleanest in the state in 2010.
Point Reyes was one of the locations where the 1980 horror film The Fog was filmed.
The Kayangan Lake and the Barracuda Lake are just two of the spots we had when we recently went island hopping around the Island of Coron in Palawan Philippines.
Kayangan Lake is one of the most cleanest lake in the World.
The clear water and its calm serenity gives you a time to reflect and and relax. It was captivating and breathtaking scene.
Taken on the second say of my trip just after a little lunch to the left of shot. Tasmania has ranked as having the cleanest air on earth and you can tell when being in a place like this.
Great Økssø has some of the cleanest water in Denmark.
But due to nutrient-poor soil around the lake, the water has a very distinct brown and redish color.
Following on from a recent image looking towards the towering spectacle of the Shard, I thought it might be fun to come back to the view from the top of the Shard, this time looking east beyond Tower Bridge and towards the Docklands. Having used my annual pass to photograph sunsets and evenings in every other direction from the Shard's viewing gallery, this was the final view I wanted to capture, and in some ways the one that resonated the most with me, as the route from Tower Bridge, both north of the Thames towards Canary Wharf and south of the river towards Rotherhithe, is the one that sparked my interest in photographing cityscapes.
As with another recent capture from the top of the Shard, this was taken with my camera perched precariously on top of my satchel, adhering to the building's no-tripod policy while allowing me to extend the shooting time and shutter speed. My aim with this image was to capture a hint of the dusk light striking the buildings as the sun went down, as well as the vibrant lights across the city during blue hour and into the early evening. Nine bracketed exposures were captured in short succession a few minutes after the sun had gone down, with an additional nine about half an hour later. Tower Bridge is conspicuously derelict while it's closed for maintenance works, but one of London's City Cruisers sped beneath the bridge while I was capturing my second batch of exposures, and it seemed to add a nice sense of momentum to the final image, guiding the eye along the sinuous path of the Thames and towards the Docklands in the distance.
The two batches of exposures were separately blended in Photoshop using luminosity masks, then selectively merged using a combination of Lighten, Soft Light and Overlay blend modes. This allowed me to preserve the brightest and cleanest possible finish in the shadows between the buildings, as well as providing a high level of control over the intensity of the city lights. This was beneficial for toning down the highlights in two particular areas of the image: the busy A1203 road north of St Katharine Docks, where the longer exposures were producing light trails, and the lights at the tip of the Canary Wharf skyscrapers.
Colour-grading was fairly straightforward: using Apply Image to target and mask separate portions of the image, I used Colour Balance, Curves and Hue/Saturation adjustment layers, as well as two low-opacity Colour Lookups set to Soft Light -- Night from Day, and Futuristic Bleak -- to enhance the chilly futuristic ambience. After this, I used Silver Efex Pro to selectively lower the midtone and shadow structure within the Thames -- smoothing out its texture -- and a sparing amount of the Pro Contrast filter in Colour Efex Pro to add some definition to the image.
The final adjustments were to bring out the intricate detail within the cityscape. The D800 does a remarkable job of capturing every nuance, even through the Shard's glass windows, but I added a minimal amount of Colour Efex Pro's Detail Extractor to the buildings, as well as adjusting the tone and radius of the Shadow detail using a Highlights/Shadows adjustment in Photoshop. The final result hopefully brings to life the spectacular view from the top of the Shard, but it was also a fun image to shoot and edit considering how many of the buildings in this view I've photographed from a ground-level view.

Last month I was able spent some time visiting a couple of lesser known rainforest valleys in Olympic National Park. It always feels good to see new places, especially in a park I know so well. Rainforests can be rather "uncooperative" when it comes to finding cohesive compositions. This vine maple sweeping in front of a Douglas Fir (I believe) was the cleanest I could come up with that. Not sure if this images will live long in my galleries but it's pleasant enough to share here. Hope at least a few of you enjoy it!
It is the third largest lake in France, after the Lac du Bourget and Lac de Grand-Lieu, if the French part of Lake Geneva (which is also partly in Switzerland) is excluded. It is known as "Europe's cleanest lake" because of strict environmental regulations introduced in the 1960s. It is a popular tourist destination known for its swimming and water sports.
The lake was formed about 18,000 years ago, at the time the large alpine glaciers melted. It is fed by many small rivers from the surrounding mountains (Ire, Eau morte, Laudon, Bornette and Biolon), and from a powerful underwater source, the Boubioz, which enters at 82 m depth.

Dolan Falls at sunset. Where Dolan Creek meets the Devils River in southwest Texas is the largest perennially flowing waterfall in the state, as well as some of the cleanest water due to its remote location. This is the view looking north from the main fall with the confluence of creek (right) and river in the background.
Salda, bears the distinction of being places of Turkey's deepest lake with depths reaching 184 meters. Its water is less salty and high alkaline
The Salda Lake is estimated to have formed about 2 million years ago. Lake and coastline 1st Degree Natural Site area.
Another feature that makes Salda Lake special is that it is one of the two places that have the same characteristics as Mars on Earth.
Salda Lake is the fifth cleanest third deepest lake in the world
Voidomatis (Greek: Βοϊδομάτης) is a river in the Ioannina regional unit in northwestern Greece, and is a tributary of the Aoos river. The main current sources are located under the village of Vikos. Along its path it converges with other water currents originating from the banks of Tymfi or the Vikos Gorge and it joins to the river Aoos close to Konitsa. The river has a total length of 15 kilometers. The name Voidomatis comes from the Slavic Bode–Mat which means "good water".
Voidomatis has been characterized as one of the cleanest rivers in Europe as it does not face any environmental issues. It crosses one of the most beautiful natural locations of Greece and has been part of the Vikos–Aoos National Park since 1973. The river is spanned by a number of stone bridges and is known for water sports such as rafting and kayaking.

I first heard about an illuminated woodland in the southwest of London about a year ago, but it wasn't until this winter that I had an opportunity to visit Syon Park's Enchanted Woodland. Syon House is the 500-year-old London home of the Duke of Northumberland, but its 200-acre parkland dates even further back, and is now home to more than 400 specimens of trees in its gardens, orchards and meadows, part of which is beautifully lit by Imax Lighting for a brief period each Christmas.
The Enchanted Woodland is now in its 11th year, but only opens for three weekends at the end of November and start of December, and on each evening for only a few hours. From a photography standpoint, this presented a challenge, not only because of the crowds that were eager to get a glimpse of the scene, but also because of the limited window of opportunity to capture the scene in the right weather conditions.
I visited on two of the three weekends, contending with heavy clouds and rain on the first occasion, but capturing the image I had in mind -- a view of the woodland from one of its two bridges on a calm, clear evening, reflected in the lake at its centre -- on the second occasion. The only challenge when capturing this vantage point was the small size and light weight of the bridge, where everyone was heading for the same view and where it was difficult to keep the camera steady on a surface that was constantly vibrating beneath the crowds. With patience, though, I was able to capture all of the exposures I needed.
Nine exposures were bracketed and blended in Photoshop using luminosity masks, with the aim to preserve detail where the floodlights were highlighting the tree trunks and to bring out the texture within the woodland's branches and leaves with the cleanest possible finish.
The colour-grading process was straightforward because the scene was already filled with dazzling colours that seemed to complement each other perfectly, but I wanted the viewer's eye to be led towards the centre of the frame and to ensure the image wouldn't feel chaotic. I toned down the blues from a floodlight along the edge of the lake, as well as reducing the luminance in the green of the trees. Next, I applied a gentle Gradient Map to set the precise tone of blue I wanted in the shadows and a low-opacity Colour Lookup set to Soft Light and using the Candlelight preset, which helped to emphasise the orange and magenta tones among the branches further upstream. I also used a radial gradient mask to incorporate the higher exposures at the centre of the image, excluding the highlights and shadows from the mask and therefore only brightening the horizon, which I hoped would guide the viewer's eye to the light on the horizon and the lake as it vanished into the distance.
Using Silver Efex Pro set to Luminosity, I lowered the midtones to enhance the scene's mood, and reduced the structure within the foreground of the lake to prevent the reeds of grass and algae from becoming a distraction. I also lightly increased the sensitivity of the yellows and blues to play up the lighting within the trees, which, along with sparing amounts of the Pro Contrast and Detail Extractor filters in Colour Efex Pro, added a little more definition to the branches.
The final touch was a very small amount of vibrance to the horizon, which was isolated using a Colour Range selection. The peachy tones in the sky were fading quickly, but thanks to the woodland's doors opening earlier than usual that evening they were still faintly visible, making the view of this unique scene that much more memorable.

Late afternoon at Montara State Beach - Montara, California, USA
Montara State Beach is a beach located in the coastal region of the U.S. state of California, eight miles north of Half Moon Bay on State Route 1. It is operated by the California State Department of Parks and Recreation under the San Mateo Coast Sector Office. It is one of the cleanest beaches in the state and is known for surfing and fishing.
Montara State Marine Reserve & Pillar Point State Marine Conservation Area extends offshore from Montara State Beach.
The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portolà expedition, camped in this area on October 30, 1769, possibly at Martini Creek, which reaches the sea at Montara beach (Bolton says San Vicente Creek, farther south). Franciscan missionary Juan Crespi noted in his diary, "We stopped not far from the shore at the foot of some hills which prevent us from passing along the beach. They form a valley sheltered from the north, from which flows an arroyo with plenty of good water...on account of the large number of mussels which they found on this beach, very good and large, the men called it Punta de las Almejas."

Oh man, the rain. Bad weather plagued us for most of our trip to Wales. Whilst my camera is water-resistant, the lens is not and the last thing I wanted was to ruin my favourite piece of equipment. The rain, instead of dropping straight down seemed to constantly be coming straight towards the lens which ruined so many shots. This is the 'cleanest' shot I have of this view but even this has muddied starbursts. Meh.
The unusual suspension bridge was on my list of places to visit on our trip, but I didn't expect it to be locked up. I really couldn't work out why.
Still. I found myself past the gates somehow... It was a tranquil place, between the noise of the road and the (absolutely awful) rail tunnel.
As always, I'm interested in interacting with photographers on social media... Facebook or Twitter. I have a Website too!

FWU 82Y: The Beigest
A February '83 model finished in a rather fetching shade of Coral Beige. The rare brown-toned bumpers add to a very eighties colour scheme - though the brown bumpers aren't original to the car, this L has had many replacement parts sourced from a higher spec GL.
LCR 503Y: The Earliest
First registered 20th October 1982 - 5 days after sales began, it's thought to be the oldest known survivor. This one wears a mysterious green hue not found on other Sierras or seeminlgy documented in Ford marketing literature. Between us our theory is it could be a Cortina colour which was dropped at the last minute.
C58 VLX: The Cleanest
April '86 wearing the facelift nose of a grille-less and Ghia headlight combination with sensible mirrors. Finished in rental spec Rosso Red.
Bay-headed tanager. Not the cleanest of backgrounds, but had limited time for photos on this trip.

What was supposed to be a relaxing late summer dive in one of the cleanest lakes in Feldberg Lake District Nature Park was turned upside down by strong winds, rain, cool 10 to 15 °C water temps and virtually zero visibility. Oh well. Those who want it cozy go to the Red Sea or Asia. For us a dark, cold world waited, in which we even could not see our own hand in front of the mask. Dimly, some diving obstacles emerged from the darkness in front of us, which now seemed all the more mysterious. The vegetation was getting ready for winter. Nevertheless, we stumbled upon large motionless pikes, perches and whole schools of rudds.
Another new Spring release which has been waiting patiently in a finished folder since last year. This section of forest in southern Washington was one of the cleanest, least cluttered forest floors I've come across in the Pacific Northwest. Those of you who routinely photograph the damp forests found west of the Cascade mountains know full well what demanding and challenging environments they can be to compose in. This spot with its relative order, on the other hand, was incredibly enjoyable to work with. The light that day was perfect, a high medium density cloud layer allowed just enough light penetration to create this high contrast yet ethereal atmosphere. All in all it was one of my favorite photographic outings in 2020. Looking forward to a return trip this year

This image was taken during a recent visit to the London School of Economics Library with fellow photographers Slawek Sondaj, Peter Li and Max Vassiades. On the last day of the university winter term we had the location -- which is visited by about 6,500 students and staff each day -- almost entirely to ourselves. Where the library's enormous atrium had been filled with sunlight during my previous visit, the scene late at night took on a much moodier tone, with the vibrant furniture on the now-renovated lower ground floor adding a cheerful splash of contrasting colour.
The set-up for the shot involved extending my tripod's neck horizontally over the spiral ramp's balustrade so that the camera was looking almost directly down. While the library had requested that the final selection of images we provided would not contain visitors, I couldn't resist leaving one student in the frame, who had made himself comfortable on one of the beanbags in the lower ground floor and who provided a sense of the scale of the enormous building.
The image is a blend of nine exposures combined in Photoshop using luminosity masks, with the darker exposures allowing me to tone down the highlights along the walls and inside the lifts, and the brighter exposures adding the cleanest possible finish to the shadows along the steps and lift shaft. Using reflective and radial gradient masks, I then used my brightest exposures to emphasise the light across the glass casing at the base of the lift shaft, as well as the overall exposure of the lower ground floor, where I wanted the viewer's eye to settle after taking in the geometric patterns along the helical ramp.
The colour-grading phase was carried out with a less-is-more approach: the blue along the spiral was desaturated, and the yellow between the seats on the lower-ground floor removed in order to simplify the overall palette to three tones: a muted blue for the spiral, a clean white for the walls, and a vibrant red for the seats. After this, I used a low-opacity monochrome Gradient Map set to Soft Light to gently emphasise the contrast across the image, and a Selective Colour adjustment to add a hint of magenta to the red furniture. Finally, inside Nik's Silver Efex Pro, I lowered the midtone and shadow structure in order to soften the texture of the walls and carpets, as well as amplifying the whites and Soft Contrast, which gave the image a softer feel without affecting the details.
The library's atrium has such a minimalist and contemporary ambience that it's easy to forget the building contains more than 4 million pieces of literature across 50km of shelving. At the same time, I like how the lone student in this image is inevitably working on a laptop, which seems to add a subtle commentary on how learning and research have evolved over the years.

Setophaga americana singing from the canopy of the summer woods. There aren't too many places around here where I can get eye level with the canopy, but in a nearby green space there is a steep hill where I can get about 50 feet above the surrounding forest and catch a glimpse of the canopy. This might not be the "cleanest" image, but I think it gives an accurate representation of where these tiny predators spend most of their time.
The power off UP Train AASAMX 02 heads up the KCT North-South Corridor on Track 80 as they head back to UP Neff Yard after dropping their train off at Armourdale Yard. This was probably the cleanest YN2 CSX engine I ever saw. That sure was a sharp paint scheme. I wish they hadn't canned it for the underwhelming ones that followed it.

[EN] On Saturday the 3th of Juni this year, I was able to photograph the cleanest NS 1700 on that moment. With a delay of half an hour, the NSI 1744 is seen pulling Intercity 146 through the heather landscape of Assel. As the 1744 has only been used four days of June, it was not easy to photograph this "nez-cassé" on the Intercity Berlin service.

This was my fourth year visiting London's City Hall, and of all the buildings I've visited during the Open House weekend over the years, this remains one of the most inspiring. Despite the political upheaval across the UK over the past several months, there's a prevailing sense of serenity inside the building, and although it's now more than a decade since it was built, it still feels like one of the most futuristic in London.
I was fortunate enough last year to capture the helical walkway with only a single individual, at a moment late in the afternoon when, for a few seconds, the crowds thinned out. Unsure about whether a similar moment would present itself but hopeful that I could capture lightning in a bottle again during this year's Open House weekend, I had a different composition in mind, again at the top of the spiral, but this time closer to the centre and with a clear view of the 10-storey drop through the building. This was more challenging to capture empty because of the wider visibility of the walkway, but once again I found a brief moment when the influx of visitors briefly slowed to a standstill, and a young woman walked along the steps into the centre of the frame, pausing for a few seconds at the centre of the spiral, taking in the view of the city in front of her and the immense scale and height of the building around her.
This brief moment was enough for me to capture the image I wanted, with the individual staying still long enough for me to bracket seven exposures with her sharp and in-focus in all of them. From there, the exposures were blended in Photoshop using luminosity masks, with the midtones and shadows weighted heavily towards the brighter exposures for a high-key finish that would bring out the pristine white in the building's structure and panelling. After this, I used the Pen Tool to isolate the staircase, the steps themselves, and the surrounding steel frame and windows, which were then used alongside luminosity masking to blend in the brighter exposures using the Soft Light, Screen and Linear Light blend modes. This was a painstaking process, but it allowed me to achieve the brightest, cleanest and most accurate possible finish despite shooting handheld at a high ISO, and it also made it possible to emphasise the bright and airy interior of the building without compromising exposure on the view outside of the building, where the Walkie Talkie, the Gherkin and the neighbouring high-rise buildings could be glimpsed. Striking this balance and controlling the highlights in the external view were important to me because I wanted to convey what had captivated this woman's attention while she was standing at the top of the staircase.
With the exposures blended and selections created, the post-processing on the image was straightforward. I tried to bring out the airy and surreal atmosphere inside the building by pushing towards a gentle blue hue using Colour Balance, Curves and Gradient Map adjustments, as well as desaturating some of the yellow tones in the lights and the green hue of the plants inside the offices, which seemed to distract from the centre of the image. The contrast was kept low for a softer finish, but I dipped into Colour Efex Pro and selectively applied just enough of the Pro Contrast and Tonal Contrast filters to give the building's steel structure some definition, which I felt emphasised its geometry.
The final image is a result of one of the most exhaustive workflows of any image I've worked on, but it was also one of the most rewarding.

Taken ast a foreign car repair shop in the Blue Ash suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio
I think these coupes had some of the best and cleanest lines of their era. What a work of ar and the coupes look so much better than the convertibles. I wouldn't change a thing (other than the owner).
I chose the side view as it best shows the lines of the car.
Water quality in the River Mersey had been severely affected by industrialisation in the region, and in 1985, the Mersey Basin Campaign was established to improve water quality and encourage waterside regeneration. In 2002, oxygen levels that could support fish along the entire length were witnessed for the first time since industry began on the Mersey. Salmon are now found in the river. They can be viewed on the Salmon Steps at Woolston Weir And Howley Weir between the months of September and November. Since 2006 Atlantic Grey Seals have also ventured as far inland as Woolston.
In 2009 it was announced that the river is "cleaner than at any time since the industrial revolution" and is "now considered one of the cleanest [rivers] in the UK".
Lower than in prior years, the water flow is still impressive at Dolan Falls on the Devils River in Val Verde County, Texas.
One of CP's cleanest and one of its dirtiest units (CP 8757 & CP 9584) are paired together as they lead a 96-car CP 231 westbound on the North Track of the Vaudreuil Sub. Reportedly CP 9584 is the last 9500-series CP unit still active. CP 8757 was painted into this special paint scheme in September 2021 and it honours residential school victims.
