A loaded taconite train heads south on this pleasant October afternoon. What's so classy you may ask? Well, we ended up chasing this train to a spot south of Coons, and as the train was pulling out of the siding, the engineer hit the brakes, putting the train into a full stop. The door swung open as him and the conductor got out of the cab to yell "GET OFF THE FUCKING PROPERTY!" at us. Yeah, real classy bunch.
A close up of the classy sign designed and paid for by conductor Connor Maher for the historic last run of CSXT's ex Pan Am local BO-1 up the Eastern Route mainline to Salem and Peabody. We attended a science fiction festival in Bartow, Florida, recently and encountered several interesting costumes. It seemed that anyone I pointed my camera at was willing to strike a momentary pose . . . and I thank each of them. I am not certain which science-fiction character this young lady is dressed up to be.

With the train completely on the approach trestle to the MacArthur Bridge, UP 4014 continues it's journey to downtown St Louis which can be seen in the distance.

No other word comes to mind.
Me and fellow friend Lorence Toutant decided that it was time to spend a few days up north to properly capture the essence of this railroad, and we weren't disappointed. The Ontario Northland has been on my 'to do list' for a number of years and I'm glad i was able to finally see it with my own eyes. This is a place where Railroading is still alive and well and it was quite refreshing to witness. Everyone encountered was friendly, everything is well maintained and almost everything runs on a schedule. It's amazing to me that in 2021 you can still see a scheduled mixed train, high-noses GP9's and SD40-2's running on a regular basis. The ONR is a well-oiled machine and is absolutely worth the 10hrs + drive.

Complete with a silver painted frame and trucks, a Union Pacific box car, new in Oct. 1970, awaits departure in Provo, Utah the morning of Sept. 14, 1985.
ACL 100 sits at the Conrad Yelvington facility in Gainesville waiting for another rock train to switch. I forget the whole story but I believe this unit is owned by a historical society and leased to Conrad Yelvington, it switches real trains so I guess it is real!

Amtrak 49 out of Albany Christmas day into Chicago the 26th featured two Northern Pacific Vista Domes on the rear. An eight bedroom Dome-Sleeper and a Dome-Coach. This will be the pair's first trip together in close to 1/2 a century.
NP 313 features a master bedroom w/ shower and queen bed, four double bedrooms, three roomettes and dome seating for ten. NP 549 features dome seating for twenty four, coach seating for twenty six, parlor seating for nine, and a spacious kitchen.
Here the train is about an hour and a half behind schedule as they fly through Millbury, OH in a cloud of snow blown up by the train. 12/26/2020
