A neo-classic space diorama which double serves at exhibitions as a link to my online profiles. Photos taken during 2023 Hobby Poznań exhibition by Zbudujmy.to.
A snack-sized rover.
11 pieces, not counting the test pilot. Surely not an original idea. No, it doesn't actually stand up. No, the handle isn't connected. (It's a magnetic safety linkage; if you fall off, the connection is cut and the motors brake the wheels.)
Yeah, we're moving soon. This house is where PCS started, and where that era ends. Been a lot of MOCs built here, and a lot of friends build out there. All that will continue, just a few miles closer to Atlanta. Holy cow I gotta pack all this crap up.
Figured I'd post something small but tricky next. Also, this is one that was not at BrickCon, so it should be new for everyone.
I never really appreciated this ship as a kid. I didn't like how the bottom of the cockpit was open. Now that I look back, I love the ridiculousness of that huge rocket engine mounted on the speeder. I also like the simplicity of the design that lets the pilot just fly it right into the back of the ship.
This is actually my most recent Micro build. Making it all work in Micro was a lot of fun.
Classic Space is awesome. This is my attempt at recreating the "feel" of the space sets of the eighties, 6952 Solar Power Transporter in particular.
The vehicle is hinged in two places, between each set of wheels and both new and old parts were used for the build.
The photo was taken in the dark using a flashlight as only lightsource and the "rocketeffect" behind the scooter was accomplished by pointing the flashlight directly into the camera.

My second entry for the contest "Out of this World Space Builds" on Lego Idea.
Story:
“A group of villain women have taken over Space and harmony. The heartless leader, Miss Andrea try, in her heart shape spacecraft, to flee the consequences of her actions, her reprehensible acts!!! She even has desacralized the logo of the M-tron to make W-tron (Women-tron), such an unforgivable offense!
At her pursuit, a coalition of 2 classic space squads, the leader of the "EK" squad, Eddy and the leader of "WAL" squad, Cindy. They have developed a strong bond and they are quite complementary; Eddy is a fine pilot and Cindy a good shooter especially with the ion gun that are perfect to disable engines. Together with their new alliance, the "EK-WAL" squad, they want to bring Miss Andrea to justice where she will have a fair trial with all the facts and proofs of her wrongdoings.”

Tip: it’s kind of obvious but you need to read between the lines to understand my intention (say rapidly and out loud the name of the villain)
Not so many uploads lately, I'm devoting all the time I can find to building Classic Space Rovers I'm saving up for Febrovery 2013.
This one is not really in line with the rest, so I decided to post it as a preview. Hope you guys like it!
The Ideas project "LL928 comes home" has a Galaxy Explorer with a clever build, lots of detail, and a unique implementation of the lower fuselage. I want to like it, but it has too many greebles for my taste and it relies entirely on obsolete finger hinges to achieve the stud inversion, while generally mixing modern and vintage parts in a way that means it could never have been put into production in a form remotely like the original submission even if it had made it to the review stage. As an exercise in stud inversion and greebling, I made a Galaxy Explorer inspired by "LL928 Comes Home" that uses only modern parts and preserves what I see as the most important features of the original, with slightly less greebling. 1997’s Robo Stalker, another Mech from the strange RoboForce sub-theme!
I’m kind of a fan of the space robot goblin in striped pants, vaguely reminds me of a Beetlejuice getup? Idk, but I dig it.
This set has some seriously unique space elements and a few familiar. This set stands strong as a part’s pack, but it has enough originality to merit its own existence in any retro space collection
Good consoles for both drivers, great transparent orange elements, and even a cool sticker over the torso windshield
This set has all the prints and printed legs for the minifigs, super deluxe for ‘97
Each pilot of the orange faction of RoboForce shares the same face (previously used in Aquanauts’ sub-theme), which is an odd choice considering how many different elaborate prints were used in these sets
The detachable head/craft is good looking, with that large Exploriens’ element for a cockpit, adjustable wings, and two storage containers
More Retro Space LEGO sets to be featured soon..

Another take on LL 918, from Ideas. Modified so it doesn't mix modern parts and obsolete parts. Original here:

The crew of a Galaxy Explorer dismantled their beloved spaceship to build this transmitter and a small station around it for one purpose only: to send a #BuildToGive signal into the Space.

Have a nice day!
Another alternate build I've made, this time using all the parts from the set 6891 (released in 1985).
Not very happy with the back section - But I like the overall style of this "little bird" ^^
This has been in the pipeline for a couple of weeks. Did most of the finishing work today. I'd like to make one or two minor improvements, but it's 95% done.
I put the glory shot last this time, as I felt that the set in it's entirety deserved to be the first photo. One of the things I'm most proud of is getting black and yellow stripes to be flush with the wings. Sure they're longer and narrower, but the effect isn't half bad.
The rear is, proportionally, a bit chunky compared to the original. This is because the rear of the Galaxy Explorer is eight studs wide, and I couldn't cut it in half to four studs and still have details like the antenna and red lights to either side of the buggy compartment's windscreen.
Over all I think it works though, and getting it to look right is what made me push on ahead to start building more classic space micro.
He has been chosen!
That claw is just one of those details that, despite its simplicity, took forever to get right.
A modern update of set 6890 "Cosmic Cruiser" aka "Delta 1 Explorer and Shuttle," primarily inspired by a Space Police 3 sketch model built by Mark Stafford in 2007 or 2008, which in turn reminded NilsOBrix of the Cosmic Cruiser in a comment. Original here:

The Cosmic Cruiser is harder to update than the 918/924/928 series, because so much of its identity derives from its functionality rather than its shape. The mini scooter inside the larger spaceship, which itself is still small and swooshable, is a fun idea, but I don't like some aspects of the original set. The main rocket motor is way too big for the scooter, and with the scooter removed the spaceship is an immobile shell. With the scooter in place, the cockpit is anything but airtight, and the scooter rattles around as if it's about to fall out.
In this update, I wanted to keep the size and shape of Mark Stafford's sketch model while adding Cosmic Cruiser play features. I also wanted the Cruiser itself to still be flyable without the scooter - perhaps it can operate autonomously to come pick up the scooter if the scooter runs out of gas. That meant the scooter had to have a separate, smaller engine and the Cruiser had to have a set of retractable landing gear separate from the scooter. That also required the main engine and the rear fuselage to all swing up on the same hatch, which became too heavy to trust to the hinges used. It was then a bit of a challenge to come up with locks to hold the hatch in the open and closed positions. The hull color had to be red because a critical wedge piece is not available in blue.
The scooter is smaller and more boring than I would have preferred, but it fits neatly in the shell of the Cruiser with a docking mechanism that's a little bit more sophisticated than simply leaving studs on top, and the cockpit is airtight. As an homage to the original set, the scooter is built around the current standard automobile base, just like the original was. Unfortunately, I couldn't find room for the scooter to carry the standard set of tools (radio, spanner, space gun).
