Preserved former British Railways Class 11 diesel-electric locomotive 12082, now numbered 12049 by the Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line), was built at Derby Works in 1950. It was withdrawn from service by British Rail in 1971 and subsequently operated for the National Coal Board and the Harry Needle Railway Company before passing to the Mid Hants Railway in 2010, replacing the original 12049 which was irreparably damaged by fire. It was photographed at the Mid Hants Railway’s Ropley engineering works on 11 September 2016.

VORRA Yerington 2013

After having 2hrs to kill at Bewdley, we waited to take D3022 & 12099 back to Kidderminster on Sunday afternoon.

LMS/BR Darlington English Electric (Class 11) 0-6-0DE Diesel Shunter 12131 stands in the yard at Weybourne on 30 October 2011

Victorian Railways ordered 10 5'3" gauge shunters from English Electric in 1951, which were very similar to the BR (LMS) class11 and Netherlands 600 series which were also being built at Preston around that time.

Six identical locos were then ordered in 1952 by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria to shunt various coal yards, but these were steadily sold to VR over the years to be amalgamated into their fleet.

This example was originally SEC3 and the first to be sold to VR in 1956, it was also one of the last to be withdrawn from service in 1986, and is now preserved at the North Williamstown museum in Melbourne, seen there on 23rd March 2002. Visual differences from the class 11 include the lack of buffers, a central buckeye coupler with cowcatchers below, side safety boards covering the running gear, and of course sunshades over the cab windows!

Six of the original 16 have been preserved.

We pre-run a section of the Baja 1000 course until things start breaking

A so-called "Amsterdammer" international intercity express train operated jointly by the NMBS and NS under the brand "hi-speed". In this case the carriages belong to NS and the locomotive (NMBS/SNCB Class 11 number 1185) belongs to the NMBS.

Here we see the express train crossing the river Nete in Duffel, Belgium as it makes it's way along lines 25/27 on it's journey from Amsterdam to Brussels. The pathway leading into the shot is the former towpath along the navigable stretch of the Nete, it's now a dedicated walk and cycle path.
