after almost 20 years of service, most of NS Dash 9 have been but in storage in Roanoke for rebuilding into C6M. It is a very sad sight but I guess you could say there's some relief that there not meeting the cutters torch.
Part of what would be a three-way meet these two freights pass each other with a coal train just about to join the party. The zoom-pan is the hardest shot for me so I'm always happy when one turns out decently. It is a mix of both panning and zooming out a constant speed to match a moving target.
CP H20-03 crosses the Mississippi River and enters Hastings, MN with a large block of cars led by two GP22C-ECOs. July 2020
CP H20-09 sported an SD60 leader. The train needed to pick up 20 auto rack cars at Cottage Grove which resulted in a late departure after working in Hastings, MN. The train is seen dashing through the snow just west of Vermillion on the CP River Sub. February 2020

Norfolk southern #3100 pulls up to Colley ave with two slug #918 and #936. They pulled up with some hopper to shove back into lamberts point.
611 Fireman Cheri George waves to a friend of mine after the train finally crested the hill on the Sunday morning passenger train out of Manassas, Virginia.
The 611 was put to a big test with wet rails, frequently spinning the drivers, but conquered the hill.
While I didn't have the motive power variety I saw the day before it was still fun to see the number of trains CN was running. I didn't even get as far as Rocky Run before I spied another southbound coming off the Superior Sub. This was a one and done grab shot but I rather like the old code line pole lurking off to the side.
