I love wrought iron fences. I love their timeless beauty. I love the fact that someone spent hours to craft them into an artform that many people take for granted. How many people have passed this fence and never thought twice about it? Probably more than I can imaging. Not me though. I just smiled.
Although the sky was a little over cast, the temperature on Sunday was just too nice to sit inside. Well, actually, we sit in a lot and I'm just tired of that whole scene. So, instead, I suggested we go for a walk over looking the NYC skyline (More pics to follow) and get some well needed fresh air. YAY for activity! Oh ya, and YAY for playing with the camera too! LOL
Recombination breakpoints in HIV-1 V1-V3 recombinant sequences from different subjects. The cladograms (top panels) represent the main non-recombinant lineages (putative parental sequences) within the maximum likelihood trees of subject S2 and S4. The bootscanning plots (middle and bottom panel) were obtained for representative HIV-1 V1-V3 recombinant sequences (query sequences). Horizontal axis indicates the nucleotide position along a query sequence; vertical axis gives the bootstrap support for the clustering of the query sequence and the parental sequence (or clade) with a matching color in the cladogram. Vertical dotted lines localize potential recombination breakpoints. a Subject S2. Middle panel: bootscanning plot of an R5 recombinant sequence from early PBMC (PBMC_1t). Bottom panel: bootscanning plot of an X4 recombinant sequence from early PBMC (PBMC_1t). b. Subject S4. Middle panel: bootscanning plot of an R5 recombinant sequence from late PBMC (PBMC_3t). Bottom panel: bootscanning plot of an X4 recombinant sequence from thymus.

Results of Bayesian analysis of weaving taxa.70% majority rule cladogram of 1000 trees sampled from a 10,000,000-step MCMC search using flat priors, variable character-change rate. Clade frequencies are shown as percentages behind each node. Proposed taxonomy of weaving traditions shown by the bracketed taxa on the right hand side, based on clades with support of 90% or better.

Vicariance and Geodispersal general area cladograms. The vicariance trees indicate the order that areas became separated from each other due to barrier (tectonic, eustatic, etc.) formation; whereas geodispersal trees indicate the relative order in which barriers were removed. Congruence between tree topologies indicates that geographic barriers rose and fell in the same relative order, suggesting the importance of cyclical geologic processes (e.g., oscillating sea levels). Conversely, incongruence indicates that singular events (e.g. tectonic pulses) influenced the evolution and biogeographic differentiation of the clades [22]. Numerical values indicate bootstrap (plain text) and jackknife (italicized) support for nodes. T1 analysis recovered a single most parsimonious vicariance tree (length of 87 steps, consistency index 0.736) and two most parsimonious geodispersal trees (64 steps, CI 0.797). T2 analysis recovered a single most parsimonious vicariance tree (49 steps, CI 0.816) and two most parsimonious geodispersal trees (59 steps, CI 0.531). The strict consensus topology is illustrated for geodispersal analyses.

I thought I would experiment with a piece of scrap external insulation cladding from a type being currently installed in Upper Cwmbran. When the ignition source was removed, it went out but created extremely unpleasant fumes. While flame was in contact with the material, it did flame up. Doesn't encourage me to have it applied to my house!
Two M973A1 Small Unit Support Vehicle , aka SUSV, clad in emergency lights and digital camouflage, claw their way through the snow at Taylor Park Reservoir near Gunnison, Colo., March 15, 2010. The SUSV, which is capable of traversing almost any terrain, is the primary vehicle used by the Colorado Army National Guard’s Snow Response Team. This relatively unknown asset can be used by the SRT to assist state and local rescue teams during nearly every type of disaster, state emergency or search and rescue. Template selection strategy based on the NJ tree. This figure illustrates the strategy of a template selection using a cladogram in which the target sequence (a) relates differently to various sequences of known structure. The symbols R and R′ represent the other branches of the cladograms. These branches contain sequences of known structure. Our aim was to identify sequences of known structure that could reasonably be used as templates for the target sequence based on the bootstrapped consensus tree. The procedure used to select the template sequences most closely related to the target sequence from the bootstrap NJ tree depended on the structure of the tree and the position of the target sequence relative to the nearest neighbors of known structure. In cases such as that shown in subfigure A, a single peptide of known structure (b) was selected as the template for target sequence (a) if the bootstrap value for the two taxa, a and b, was greater than 50%. Two taxa, b and c were selected if the bootstrap value for taxa a and b was below 50%. In cases such as that shown in subfigure B, two taxa, b and c were selected as templates, regardless of the bootstrap value of the common ancestor of the three taxa, a, b and c. In case C, we randomly chose two templates from the sister taxa (R′) of the target sequence (a) if the sister taxa (R′) included two or more sequences of known structure.

The BISF house was one of several types of houses built using non-traditional methods in an attempt to meet increased demand for housing in the years following the Second World War. The main structure is of steel columns spaced to take standard metal windows between them. The central spine of the building which supports the first floor beams is carried on tubular steel columns. The framework is clad on the lower storey with rendering on metal lath. The outer cladding of the upper floor is of steel trussed sheeting fixed by angles to the steel columns. The inner cladding and the partitions are constructed of timber framing faced with plasterboard. Floors are of timber and the ceilings are finished with plasterboard. The outer walls and ceilings are insulated with glass quilting.
This lady, selling clothes and odds and ends, wearing a palaikat sarong (or "kain palaikat" in the local lingo) attracted my attention. If I'm not mistaken, in the olden days, widows would wear their husband's palaikat sarong, just as a reminder. So perhaps this lady is a widow.
I remember being told off by my mom when, as a teenager, I would put on my father's palaikat sarong. It was more comfortable coz it was big and roomy. I didn't know then the association between women and wearing the palaikat sarong.
The norm would be that women wear batik sarongs while men use the palaikat sarong.
