Cisco is fun to watch. I love when you can see him taking things in and figuring it out. He is a very smart boy. He remembers a lot, especially where his toys are, sound association (the sound of treats being rattled in the treat box) the sound of the ice dispenser, the sound of a door opening (esp the fridge doors). The microwave chime when it is finished with cooking... you know, anything with food.... he is a highly food motivated boy.
It would be rude not to have another go, especially as the light was much better than my previous smoky attempt here! Amtrak 140 & 152 are soon seen again with the westbound California Zephyr (Amtrak 5) at Cisco, UT.

Cisco and Pemba moved to a new house today and are finding it a bit stressful so I've been sending positive vibes down to London for them! For more interesting stories about Bengals, visit Plumbum's website where she is taking part in a Blogathon in aid of the RSPCA.
After one last chase to conclude the day and indeed our trip, GP60 No. 1100 leads the Potash Local east back to Grand Junction under I-70 at Cisco, UT.

Founded in 1880 as a "saloon and water refilling station" for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, Cisco became a small community centered on oil and gas development in the 1920's. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisco,_Utah
An epic display of man and nature is put on in the Fraser Canyon as CN & CP container trains meet in the rugged wilderness at Cisco, British Columbia.
In a fortuitous moment of perfect timing, opposing trains pass each other on the twin Cisco Bridges as they move from the western to the eastern bank of the Fraser River south of Lytton, BC.
Thanks to an operating agreement between the two Canadian rail giants, directional running is in place through the Fraser River Canyon between Basque and Mission in which normally Canadian Pacific hosts eastbound traffic on their Thompson Subdivision and Canadian National hosts westbound traffic on their Ashcroft & Yale Subdivisions.
Running per the norm here, a westbound CP unit grain load (3x1x0) crosses the river via CN's orange bridge while in the foreground a CN manifest navigates through a tunnel and directly onto the black bridge running eastbound on CP-owned tracks.
This one was my highlight of the trip. Getting to meet and light with Cisco who's Calligraphy LP is incredible was pure magic.
It was great to use a mix of both of our styles and the whole image is topped off by some awesome modelling by Patricia Diez Gonzalez and an incredible costume. Holding still in such conditions for 5 minutes blows my mind. Thanks for that so much.
Thanks so much Cisco for taking the time to light with me and show me the tools you use. Watching you ply your trade was mesmerising. I enjoyed our conversations very much even if my French wasn't the best. Until next time my friend.
Cheers.
We have had lot's of rain lately and still getting it so this morning I was inside waiting for it to get light when I walked out and saw this. So I ran back inside, grabbed my camera and started snapping.
Now this was a lucky shot because I took about 80 and this was the best.
I don't often see sunrises as i am in a gully and I only get a glimmer of what the sunrise may of been like but today was a little different.
Today was quite eventful. Not only did Cisco graduate from intermediate obedience training but today is also his birthday. He is one year old as of today. We plan to continue his training as well as he is in need of guidance on things…. He has so much energy at his young age he sometimes gets a little over enthusiastic and sidetracked. He is very smart and a big sweetheart tho!
As my wife and I worked our way east from Vancouver on our summer vacation, a must do shot “along the way” was Cisco. I visited this area on a family vacation as a kid, but my K1000 with a 50mm lens was pretty much useless from a distance shooting from the side of the road. It took me 32 years to get back, but I finally got another opportunity to do it right. Unfortunately, I waited too long to do the BC Rail with better equipment, but at least CP and CN are still around. In this shot a CN westbound stack train is crossing the Fraser River, on the right side of the frame are the CP tracks that also cross the river just behind the camera. Hidden behind the trees on the right is a track connecting the CP/CN adding flexibility in the event of a disruption to the directional running operations in the Thompson/Fraser River Canyons.

Canadian National 2937 leads a westbound as it winds down the Fraser River Canyon at Cisco, British Columbia on May 13, 2017. Here, the CN and Canadian Pacific tracks each cross the Fraser River. In a shared trackage agreement, westbound trains of both railroads use CN tracks, while eastbounds use the CP.
Cisco, Texas is a small town in Northwest Texas about 108 miles west of Fort Worth on the north side of Interstate 20 (I-20). I was on my way to another destination where I was going to camp for the weekend as I drove through Cisco.
For many years I have listened to a very popular local live radio broadcast, Wheels. Ed is a history buff and has a segment dedicated to a "back-in-time history story." This is where I learned that Conrad Hilton of the well-known Hilton Hotels chain opened his first hotel in Cisco, Texas, and about the famous Santa Claus bank robbery. Just reading the story of the famous bank robbery doesn't do it justice. You should hear the story told by Ed as he is a master story teller and sound engineer with special effects like all the gunfire in the streets and music. Unfortunately you can't hear the story, but I have enjoyed hearing it replayed every year at Christmas. Thus, when I arrived in this small town I immediately remembered the stories I had heard from Ed Wallace. Imagine my surprise to see this beautiful mural painted on the side of a building wall in Downtown Cisco.
Each of the letters spelling Cisco has its own artwork depicting an important event. The "C" features the Mobley Hotel which was purchased by Conrad Hilton. The letter "I" references the Santa Claus bank robbery on December 23, 1927. How I wish you could hear the story as told by Ed. You can read the story on Wikipedia, titled Santa Claus Bank Robbery.
This now tiny town of 3,899 in 2010 was once prospering at around 15,000 population was built at the crossroads of two railroads and later prospered due to the oil boom in west Texas. I was delighted to find this beautiful mural.
That's Cisco, my Golden Retriever. He's 10.
Lately he pretends to be noble and wise with his white face and thoughtful eyes but don't let him fool you: he's just a goofy, sweet and playful big sugar bear.
I am so happy to start the 52 weeks project with him this year.
