The engineer of CP 31B eases his 3 units and 11 car consist across the rushing Fraser River on the CN span of the famed Cisco bridges. Directional running between CP and CN occurs down this section of the canyon. The CP Thompson sub which crosses the Thompson just behind the frame can be seen to the right.

A Westbound CN potash train crosses the CN bridge over the Fraser River at Cisco, British Columbia on their way towards Boston Bar.
The Canadian National has a spectacular bridge over the Fraser River at Cisco, British Columbia, but Canadian Pacific’s crossing there is pretty awesome too. An eastbound CP grain train immediately exits a tunnel and crosses the Fraser on this elegant truss bridge on September 28, 2001.

Total population of 4 with some chickens, electricity is on, no running water. Mail service is continued for a Zip Code, 84515.
The town started in the 1880s as a saloon and water-refilling station for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (now Union Pacific). Work crews and, later, travelers came through for stores, hotels and restaurants.
Attained a maximum population of over 200, until a decline began, firstly after the replacement of steam trains by diesel engines in the 1950s, and then when the town was bypassed by Interstate 70 in the 1970s.

An empty BNSF coal train takes the siding at Cisco to meet the Potash local. The west end of the siding is still protected by Type Ds and a relay-mounted searchlight, a classic Rio Grande end-of-siding.
The sound of Fraser River echoes through the canyon walls as a Canadian Pacific coal train meanders across CN’s famous truss bridge at Cisco, British Columbia. Rocks, rivers and bridges — this is my kind of spot!
In the midst of an historic winter, SPMW 4031 spreads along the #1 track of the Roseville Subdivision at Cisco, California. Heavy winter storms dumped over 700 inches of snow across the Sierra Nevada Mountains thus far this season. The onslaught of snow storms kept Union Pacific’s “winter professionals” hard at work.
On March 6th, 2023, Union Pacific called upon the rotary snow plow to clear the #2 track between Fulda and Norden. In conjunction with the rotary, SPMW 4031 ran along the #1 track, spreading snow into the path of the rotary. After a series of delays, the spreaders and rotary finally made it to Cisco just before dark. A full story behind the image is coming up…

Long abandoned U.S. Post Office in the ghost town of Cisco, Utah. Located between Moab, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado.
A trio of SP AC4400Ws head east through Cisco. After the UP merger it was common to see solid sets of SP ACs on the coal trains. This one seen motoring through Cisco. It looks like the siding is stuffed with autoracks. 7.5.97
A quick upload from this mornings trip out. As Geoff beat me to the high key shot I thought i would post something a bit darker. The reflections reminded me a bit of a company logo.
At this point in the Fraser Canyon, the Canadian National Railroad and the Canadian Pacific Railroad trade sides of the Fraser River. The CNR and CPR have an agreement were from Boston Bar to Mission all westbound trains run on the CNR tracks and eastbound trains run on the CPR tracks through the Fraser Canyon.
