Had to freeze this salmon after I bought it so I thought chowder would be a good way to use it. The cauliflower had been roasted and then frozen as well. I made rice milk yesterday and used that instead of milk and cream (although I did add a splash of lite cream for colour). It's been pouring all day here in Cairns so was appropriate!

one of my friends made a big pot of clam chowder. thye gave us a big plastic container to take home. it was yummy. i typically let my girls "clean" the dinner plates. they're pretty good at it! so i put down the empty chowder container for my youngest to work on. when i came back to check her this is what i found.

This is another go at snapping the Cichlids in my tank at home. Dave Hunt aka climberhunt called over tonight and we set strobes overhead the tank. It offered far more control than the method I used the last night of using only the aquarium lights and pushing the iso. looking forward to seeing Daves shots he had some crackers at the back of the camera. We took it in turns one shooting the other holding lights over head while dropping just the right amount of prawns so as to attract the fishies without giving too much that would cloud the water with particles.
a couple of weeks ago at Quilt Guild holiday potluck, a lady made this pot of shrimp chowder was to die for. I have been wanting to come up with my own. It was fabulous...my 10-year-old say "between this and ice-cream, I'll have this any day!"
We had these pot pies at Granville Island Market during our honeymoon. Sure enough, we found them again! Still uber yummy!!

and the mixed plate consisting of coconut shrimp, scallops and two pieces of fish (hiding in this pic) which were terrific! At the Battered Fish, Halifax. Voted by Paul and I as the best chowder and the battered fried fish in Halifax!:)) You sit outdoors on a picnic table (with umbrella) to eat it while watching the harbour.
