Had this little guy follow me for about 10mins today. He was nice enough to let me get a pic before heading out. :)

On a walk at Rookwood Conservation area outside of Guelph.

As Yoga is all the rage in Southern Oregon, I can only image that when she finished, she went to Starbucks for a double decaf non-fat Chai Latte with soy milk :))

Townsend’s Chipmunk (Tamias townsendii) (F)

Shale City Road – Cascade Mountains – Jackson County – Oregon - USA

Townsendʼs chipmunks are found in southwestern British Columbia and western Washington and Oregon. In Oregon, they are found from the Cascade Range to the coast. Townsendʼs chipmunks live in dense hardwood forests and humid coniferous forests.

Townsendʼs chipmunks are shyer than other chipmunks, so watch carefully for them. Listen for their call—a fast, highpitched series of ā€œchip, chip, chip.ā€ It may sound like a birdʼs call muffled by bushes. Their call sometimes is used to warn of intruders such as people, predators, and other chipmunks. If you are lucky, you might see a chipmunk sitting on a stump or log. Townsendʼs chipmunks eat a variety of foods. In the summer and fall, they eat berries such as blackberries, salal berries, and thimbleberries. In the late fall, they eat acorns, huckleberries, maple seeds, thistle seeds, grain seeds, grass, roots, and conifer seeds. In the winter, they search for fungi, which they find by smell and dig up to eat. Chipmunks also eat insects, especially beetles.

Gotta love a good peanut!!!

Apparently even chipmunks have tough days... The little guy seen giving his best face-palming impression, was caught shaking off his failed attempt to raid a bird feeder. Unfortunately for him, he was struggling to get the job done, and took several tumbles for his efforts.

Persistence ultimately did pay off as he finally managed to score a meal for himself, but not before upsetting some rather angry birds along the way.

I decided to post this one for my son, as apparently he found the premise of a face-palming chipmunk equivalent to comedy gold. Not sure I necessarily agree with his comedy assessment, but it was certainly fun seeing him get a good chuckle out of it! ;)

From the archives. This was taken at Crater Lake in Oregon. While everyone else was clicking away trying to capture the unreal blue of Crater Lake, here I was chasing down this little guy. Well, I did get Some lake pictures, but I am a sucker for a cute face! :)

Quite like how the light, and background turned out in this one (and the cute little chipmunk of course).

This little chipmunk was having a great brunch, stuffing as much bird seed into it's cheeks as possible and carrying it back to it's nest. The squirrel had to be taking a nap otherwise Chippie would not have been allowed to sit there!

This little guy lives some where in Ouray Colorado and happen to meet me at Box CaƱon falls

Chipmunk in Tree with Bokeh

Saw more of these out in the wild this year. I think this one was trying to convince me that it was old enough to shave.
