One of the Chimpanzees at Monkey World in Dorset.
Entered into The Bob - Mono DPI competition with Aperture Woolwich on 7/5/13. This got 2nd place.
Entered into the 2013 Finals with Aperture Woolwich and did nothing. The judge thought the background too distracting and suggested a tight crop on the Chimpanzee's head, which to me would ruin the pose with his arm wrapped around him, and his despondent look at being in captivity. But then I'm not a judge, and wtf do I know?!
Feel free to use this image.
Inspired by Casey Carlin's recent photos taken at Chester Zoo but thwarted in my attempts to get there I dug out this old image from my last visit a few years ago.
Men much wiser than I propose that an infinite number of monkeys (yes I know Chimps are primates) would eventually type out Shakespeare's most famous play in it's entirety. That may be so but here's one who wasn't hanging about waiting for his cousins to pass him the manuscript hot off the typewriter.
The rest is silence as they say (in Hamlet Act V, scene II)
We headed off to Chester Zoo this afternoon for Amy to put her new camera through its paces. I obviously took mine along also but it was only when I went to turn it on that I realised I'd made the rookie error of leaving the battery on charge at home! Amy was kind enough to let me borrow her battery to fire off a few shots! Watching these guys always fascinates me, they are so incredibly human!
I sorted through the Cheeky Chimps to air them out and pick out some for my collection. It gave me some perspective on why I get three of the same figures in a row.
I have done my Toy Sunday "Going Bananas" already, but got another idea today.
For me, going bananas can be anything wild that don't have to include bananas at all. I hope you can see that these chimpanzees are really going bananas, and I bet that Jack isn't so happy with the situation.
Bless!
Biologically, the chimpanzee is closely related to humans, so many of their characteristics may seem familiar. The most remarkable physical similarity between chimpanzees and humans is the opposable thumb. The thumb allows chimpanzees to grab objects and use tools much like we do.
STATUS: Unfortunately, chimpanzees are currently on the endangered species list. Populations have decreased because of foresting, hunting, commercial exportation, and collection for scientific research.

Day 245 of the 365 Journey
WIKIPEDIA defines the term “CHIMPING” as the following:
“Chimping is a colloquial term used in digital photography (especially when using a digital single-lens reflex camera) to describe the habit of checking every photo on the camera display (LCD) immediately after capture.
Some photographers use the term in a derogatory sense to describe the actions of amateur photographers, but the act of reviewing images on-camera is not necessarily frowned upon by professional or experienced photographers”
WHATEVER!!! If I want to look at my display after I take a shot to make sure my image looks exactly the way I want it to, that’s what I’m going to do! Leave me alone….I’m working!
Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This is actually a Gorilla in a tutu costume and he happens to be wearing a pink bra. The support continues!

The chimpanzee is the star of the animal world. You probably have seen this primate in tons of movies and television shows. But what is it that makes the chimp so special? Although they’re often portrayed as clowns, chimpanzees are highly intelligent and complex creatures.
