Childhood revisited?! Seeing this boy climbing on a tree I remembered my forgotten best part in my life.... my childhood, that I have lost many years ago in a far far distant location from here......
“A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly; But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around”
I have a thing for bears. Most of my kids roll their eyes at my collection - some of them go back to when I was very young something my dad always did buying me a "toy" every Christmas. My one son will always buy me a bear or something similar.
Our level 5 photography class went to KIMCO for a shoot, a fascinating place where one man's trash is another's treasure in the case of a photograph.
Looking around I noticed this fella in the heap of garbage...how sad I felt seeing this. It somehow made me think that someone has lost their way in remembering what it was to be a child...they grew up and threw away their childhood.
Even as adults we should stop and think how it was when we were children. How life was full of wonder and we could do anything, be anything and always had a bear or another special toy that was there for our joys, our tears, as a confidant and a best friend.
If you still have an old toy hanging around pull it out of the closet, give it a hug and try to remember what it was to be a child :) Go out ... run through the sprinkler to beat the heat, laugh at nothing, stick your tongue out at someone just because you are mad at them or just smile because you do remember it all.
Have a super weekend! And remember what it was like to be a child :)

This is the cottage in which I lived for a few years when I was a child. It was definitely the best place, and I wouldn't mind living there now.
Then the porch was unadorned and the whole cottage (c1685) could be clearly seen. There were leaded windows, with the odd 'glass alley' pane. At the back, standing free of the porch, was an archway with roses, then a productive veg/soft fruit garden. The small orchard had a variety of plum which tasted more like a damson and was scrummy. My parents kept hens and a pig (the latter had 5 star accommodation).
The lane outside is very narrow, and there is a beck on the other side of it.
The hamlet is situated at the base of Leck Fell, and there is a delightful walk from the village, through the fields and old lanes to Masongill.
Norse sheep farmers from Ireland settled here originally, and Ireby means Town of the Irish Kings.
Ireby was mentioned in the Doomesday Book (one of the many Holdings of Earl Tostig, brother to King Harold).
In addition, it is thought the Knights of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem owned half of the Manor, and may even have built a Rest House here (c1292).
The older I grow the more earnestly I feel that the few joys of childhood are the best that life has to give. ~Ellen Glasgow
Childhood is the world of miracle or of magic: it is as if creation rose luminously out of the night, all new and fresh and astonishing. Childhood is over the moment things are no longer astonishing. When the world gives you a feeling of "déjà vu," when you are used to existence, you become an adult.

"Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me..."
"Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne..."
"Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly..."
- Michael Jackson
As soon as she opened her eyes, a part of her memories that she thought it all disappeared came back. She saw herself surrounded by those ships that bring along all her dreams and imaginations to the far-away fantasy dreamland. Those fantastical bedtime stories that she used to read before going to sleep, they all came back to her. She used to wonder, she used to ask questions, she used to fly...

Enjoy!
This is my childhood home I grew up in in Tokyo, and I decided to recreate it since it was demolished.
I plated a picture I took in the park as a background (I'm not good at editing photos). The house next door is only partially done, with only the areas you can see from this angle actually built.
1st floor:
We lived on the first floor so it has a full interior. I tried to make everything as realistic as possible. Most of the interior is recent stuff but I made some stuff the older version if I have more memories about it.
2nd floor:
Our neighbor lived on the second floor so I will use the space for the structure of the first floor ceiling and I am planning to store the equipment for lighting when I get to actually build it.
Roof:
The roof uses so many small pieces but I wanted to get the texture right. It is supported by a technic structure on the inside.
Side yard:
We had a small yard on the side and my father made a deck when I was young. It is not big enough to play but we hanged out with the cats and did BBQ and a lot of good memories.
Car:
We had this red Estima for most of my childhood, and I hated it cuz it smelled so bad but still a lot of memories.

This piece was inspired by a picture I took of my younger sister when we went to the bakery together after school. Seeing the joy on her face reminded me of my own childhood, gazing longingly at the pastries on the display tables of Paris Baguette.
It was the first time I used watercolors for almost all of an artwork. I'm glad the prompt forced me outside of my comfort zone and am very grateful for this opportunity. :)
