A local market selling Holi colors....
Two young girls selling Holi colours on the street for a living
This is one of those photos that make me glad that I don't delete much - shot into the sun the exposure was tricky, but a little dose of HDR seems to have worked wonders.
It was a beautiful sunny windy afternoon, with just the girls and their holiday friends on this empty beach.

Project 365 // Day 322
My earliest and fondest memories from childhood always involve toys for some reason, wether it be Transformers, Masters of the Universe or Thundercats, I was one of those kids that always had a plastic action figure in their hands. But nothing will ever compare to my love and obsession over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – the movies, the comics, the cartoons and the toys – I was a fan through and through. When I was a kid, I had pretty much every TMNT toy you could possibly think of, including awesome play sets like the Technodrome.
But, like most kids, I eventually "outgrew" my toys when I got to that awkward age where homework consumed my time and going out and meeting girls became first priority. As I got older, I started to become more and more of a toy collector, but it was only then that I started to realize how few of my childhood toys I had left. Most them had been sold at yard sales, thrown out, lost or given away over the years. I decided to start hunting them down on eBay, yard sales and flea markets so that one day I could rebuild my collection to its former glory.

Childhood is a perilous journey.
From ghoulies and ghosties
And long-leggedy beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!

an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer,
and the morning more fragrant than ever again.

I got the book 'Tip' from friends (Alexander and Ida McIntyre) of parents about 1956 or 1957. It was book one in 'The McKee Readers' series.
The OO scale 0-6-2T steam locomotive (Hornby Dublo 3-rail) I got in a train set (bought second hand I learned a lot later) for my 4th birthday in February 1959. It started me on a 65+ year fascination with trains and model railways.

Way back home
Every step
Every hour
Every year
Bring me home
Desert ways
Bring me home
Storms
Bring me home
You
Bring me home

The meaning of life may be going this way...
Childhood's End? - Marillion
And it was morning
And I found myself mourning,
For a childhood that I thought had disappeared
I looked out the window
And I saw a magpie in the rainbow, the rain had gone
I'm not alone, I turned to the mirror
I saw you, the child, that once loved
The child before they broke his heart
Our heart, the heart that I believed was lost
Hey you, surprised? More than surprised
To find the answers to the questions
Were always in your own eyes
Do you realise that you give it on back to her?
But that would only be retraced in all the problems that you everknew
So untrue
For she's got to carry on with her life
And you've got to carry on with yours
So I see it's me, I can do anything
And I'm still the child
'Cos the only thing misplaced was direction
And I found direction
There is no childhood's end
You are my childhood friend, lead me on
Hey you, you've survived. Now you've arrived
To be reborn in the shadow of the magpie
Now you realise, that you've got to get out of here
You've found the leading light of destiny, burning in the ashesof your memory
You want to change the world
You'd resigned yourself to die a broken rebel
But that was looking backward
Now you've found the light
You, the child that once loved
The child before they broke his heart
Our heart, the heart that I believed was lost
So it's me I see, I can do anything.
I'm still the child
'Cos the only thing misplaced was direction
And I found direction
There is no childhood's end
I am your childhood friend, lead me on

Our childhood is the most beautiful stage of life!!! We cannot forget our childhood memories forever!

This is one of those pictures I never planned to upload. I'm not entirely happy with it and so it seemed like it was meant to be one of those pictures that end up collecting imaginary dust on your hard drive. But it's been absolutely ages since I uploaded anything, mostly because the winter puts me in this weird funk and it kills my creativity and I can't seem to get out of it no matter how hard I try.
So... This isn't perfect, it might be boring in black and white, and it's old. I'm sorry.
I do love this kid very much and I love that he lets me play and be weird even though he's too old to find posing for pictures fun. It's like our roles are reversed, haha. He's a heart breaker.
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

A Flickr Friday submission on the topic "Childhood memories". Not many objects left from my childhood in the mid-1950s. But I have kept this 3D viewer and its reels. In the background, a frame from one of the reels showing Donald Duck, and a reference to flying saucers, which were an obsession of that time.
