There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant then ever again. ~Elizabeth Lawrence~ I love this the most because she had been playing in the sand and water..a picture of childhood.

..had a little stumble

Rohan and his little brother are playing. Place: Pankhali, Dacope, Khulna.

The grief, the sorrow and the heartbreak of seeing your sons leaving their childhood home everytime, and only being able to see them two weeks every year; but keeping a straight face, staying 'strong' for everyone. On the other side, the same heartbreak on leaving your parents everytime. All this until one day, when they are gone, and all that's left is an empty home and the memories. My mum passed away, 18 months after this photo was taken in 2014, and dad a few weeks ago.

Of all the things, leaving them behind, to build a new life for myself hits me the hardest. We all understood why we (me and my brother) left the country and there wasn't much of a choice. My both parents were proud of our achievements and our new life abroad. But to us, as a family, only being able to see each other for a few weeks every year was heart wrenching, and they did not deserve any of this, and neither did I.

This is a heartbreak I will carry with me for the rest of my life, it might get easier in time, but I will never go away...

The photo is about some village child who are enjoying playing at the bank of a river. They are running together and playing football with their friends. That's the way the village children passes their childhood.

theme - "Childhood Memories"

Taking a trip down memory lane.

Treasures from my childhood.

One was made by my aunt and has a lock of my own hair.

The little doll is a Rosebud doll made in England in the 1950's and 60's. Both are over 60 years old.

Happy 'Crazy Tuesday'

"Our dearest childhood memories have nothing to do with the size of our house, the luxury of the family car, or the net worth of the household bank account.

We remember laughter, joy, touch, and the small, every-day experiences where we truly felt loved and protected."

Dedicated to all the fathers !

Happy Father's Day!

Don't wanna lose it. Why do we grow up?

A goodly selection of Riley's work here. Cool stuff!!

Riley was born at Norwood, London, the daughter of a businessman. Her childhood was spent in Cornwall and Lincolnshire. She studied at Goldsmiths' College from 1949 to 1952, and at the Royal College of Art from 1952 to 1955. She began painting figure subjects in a semi-impressionist manner, then changed to pointillism around 1958, mainly producing landscapes. In 1960 she evolved a style in which she explored the dynamic potentialities of optical phenomena. These so-called 'Op-art' pieces, such as Fall, 1963 (Tate Gallery T00616), produce a disorienting physical effect on the eye.

30-Day Song Challenge.

Day 29: A song from your childhood.

youtu.be/JxSaU56qRy0

This song reminds me of a very foggy part of my childhood memories. Up until a certain age.. I had no recollection of my mother whatsoever. She had to go away for her reasons.. and I was raised by my grandparents for the very first years of my life. When I finally saw her again... she asked me if I remembered who she was. I had no idea. She cried because I didn't remember. Then told me she had seen me as a newborn baby. I was in the backseat of a cab with a complete stranger that claimed to be my mother. It was surreal. If I tell you I remember a lot from that weekend I'd be lying. But I remember her apartment, her glass table, two beautiful horses made of porcelain... eating salad and cherries for the first time, and that song on the radio as she hummed along.

(Dòng sông tuổi thơ)

"Quê tôi ai cũng có một dòng sông bên nhà..."

"I wanna play for Barcelona and he wants to play for Real Madrid... We'll see who scores more goals!"

These two boys, just like all children across Syria, are still bravely enjoying whatever time they have despite the world around them being slowly shredded to bits by constant bombing, sieges, starvation and forced displacement among the tens of other deadly weapons of war which the Syrian regime uses against its own people. They defiantly refuse to surrender to the regime's desperate efforts to suppress not only the voices, but also the life and happiness of the population. They still dream of having a brighter future than the horrible present they've been thrown into.

Only Four days after this image was taken, one of the most horrific massacres in the history of the Syrian revolution happened in the Northern Syrian province of Idlib, where the regime used internationally banned chemical weapons on civilians and murdered over 100, some of whom were children younger than these two boys pictured here. Although we may not see the faces of all those victims, we know that they were definitely as innocent as these children here, with big dreams of their own. They also liked to play and enjoy the short-lived peaceful spaces of time between the bombing and disaster around them.

We urge you to please speak out against the brutality of the Assad regime within your communities and to your local governments. It is our duty to always defend the defenceless and support their causes.
