REMARK:
As early as 1876, John McQuiston owned all the land located along the east side of Flint Lake. Much of McQuiston's land was later sold to A. W. Lytle, and as early as 1895 the site was being referred to as Sheridan Beach. Edgewater Beach, located on the north shore of Flint Lake, was immediately adjacent to Sheridan Beach.
The hotel seen in this image was constructed in 1905; it was sold along with 47 acres of property to a retired manufacturer from Chicago name Sigmund Freund in 1906. Freund soon added running water and electricity to the resort. The resort was later purchased from Freund by the Kilmer-Fraser Company on July 4, 1925, and the resort was renamed Blackhawk Beach Summer Resort. The resort was once again upgraded to include a roller skating facility, picnic grounds, a toboggan slide, and concession stands. The hotel seen in this image was razed in 1957.

Chicken breasts are roasted with potatoes and whole garlic cloves, then sprinkled with bright green peas. All topped with a velvety seasoned sauce.

The Brookville Hotel traces its routes to a former railroad hotel in Brookville, Kansas (population 260 in 2013). The hotel began serving its famous chicken dinners in 1915. It has been in the same family since that time. The decision was made in 1999 to move the restaurant to Abilene, Kansas, near I-70. The new building is located at 105 Lafayette resembles the original structure and interior. Abilene was the boyhood home of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

"George Whitney opened Topsy’s Roost in 1929 and it soon became San Francisco’s most favorite spot at Playland-at-the-Beach. Driving south along the beach from the Cliff House, the first building you came to was Topsy’s Roost, a very popular Chicken Dinner House and Nightclub. You could dance to a live orchestra and there was seating on the main floor as well as the balcony. January 21, 2019 - My wife and I each had the day off so we had lunch together at Tyson's. Pictured is my chicken dinner.
A great value at the equivalent of $7.25CDN, but I am getting so sick of stewed chicken and plantains. This meal included dasheen, sort of a hairy potatoe like veggie. At least, that's how it's served at Annies.

Across the street from Zehnders in Frakenmuth, the Bavarian Inn was always considered second choice to Zehnder's chicken dinners. However, over time, it has become a huge and sprawling complex of dining rooms lodging and gift shops.
