Playing chess in Cathedral Square in downtown Christchurch, New Zealand. Sadly, the cathedral was badly damaged in the 2011 earthquake.
"OMG...I totally forgot that I've played this until now" was my impression when I saw this scene...it's pretty different than regular chess game (which we called it "international chess" in Hong Kong). I even remember that I was a regular chess club member back when I was in high school...but I can never recall my memories about the regional competition I joined with my friends =/

Lani is originally from Hawaii but married an Australian and moved out. He's been on the Sunshine Coast for seven years. He often goes to Bali for surfing trips and recalls getting his tyre changed by ten Balinese men for $1.50 while he caught some waves. In his thirty years of surfing he's never seen a shark, plenty of dolphins and the occasional sting ray (like the one he saw today).
Lani observes that thre are a lot more women out in the surf these days and they don't bring the aggression that men often do.
On a good day when the surf is big "it's like a chess game", Lani says. "You gotta be in the right spot or you won't get away".

Chess pieces is like the soul of chess game. Its form and shape which is different with another board game, make the chess pieces are nice for handcrafted collection. Besides the creation of chess pieces in the classic designs, and the custom work there are many chess producer who offer vary chess pieces in more novel designs, such as World War II soldier, baseball player, and ancient man, etc.
The chess producer use best quality of wood to make various chess designed because it need to carved by talented craftsman.
